this is awesome..my 56yr old body crawling into the back to pull the cable manually is such a pain in the butt!! cant wait to try this!!

After replacing the handle multiple times on my 03 Sequoia, each time the handle worked for a while, however the lever pull still required a lot of pressure to unlock. I never thought to replace the cable. When I bought a new cable and handle from the dealer, it was a game changer. I can now open it with one finger. So replace the cable and this issue will go away.

Hmmm I think I am gonna try replacing the cable on mine

I actually replaced the handle, latch and cable.

This is ridiculous. How are you supposed to remove the plastic piece if you can't open the hatch? Not useful.
@JujuBebop2 жыл бұрын
This worked for me one time. Couldn't do it a second time. Taking the cover off seems like it would allow a lot more dust into the hatch interior too. If you off-road a lot like I do, it could cause other issues. I think my dusty off-roading is what kept causing the latch to stick actually.

this helped so much. i now have a zip tie to open my hatch lol

I have been through this twice. The dust cover is needed to prevent a ton of road dirt from getting in there. I removed one and the dirt really found its way in there and froze the latch, big time. If the cover is there, you ain't getting this trick to work. If it is not there , the dirt will get in .

i love this idea. however. how can i get the hatch open now that my cable just broke. i have a similar set up as you and am not sure i can even get the cover off from the inside in the first place

does it work to get into the trunk in the first place without taking out that cover?
@callmebigpapa Жыл бұрын
Awesome ! I put a piece of rope around it and tuck in under the lip of the door, works also.

In order for this too work do you have to remove the first black plastic piece or will it work with it still in there? The piece you threw on the ground is what I'm talking about

This is great. I was wondering what the hell I'm going to do if I'm out of town and my latch breaks. I also have boxes in the back which would make it a huge pita

If the plastic is there then you can't do this.. so I'm guessing this is after you have gotten it open . Or fixed
