He is on the right track here. Here is what I did many years ago and is a total fix. It is a process and will cost around 20-40 dollars as you will need to buy 2-4 cans of spray brake parts cleaner. I have many years and 1000's of miles now and it still perfect with no more engine oil being sucked into the dry clutch any longer. This is key to being a permanent fix. Drill holes only large enough to allow that spray tube to fit in on the side hole. Spray and watch how much diluted oil comes out the bottom hole. Test drive and notice the lack of clutch slippage. Make sure to bungee the clutch lever when you spray to help get the parts cleaner in there. Test drive. Repeat the process as many times as needed until you only see clear fluid coming out the bottom hole. By this time you will no longer have any clutch slippage at all. Keep riding the bike and pile up miles checking the bottom hole for no oil any longer. There should be no oil any longer since you have eq the pressure which is key here to a permanent fix and that is to never plug the bottom hole you drilled. Cover the side hole for sure, but never the bottom as this will allow for 0 vacuum or pressure and will no longer get oil in there from the motor. All the Germans had to do was vent this to prevent this from ever happening. Those who spend 1000' for orings and new clutch will discover the problem will come back as there is no vent causing high pressure and then low as the bike warms and cools. When the engine warms and the bell clutch is much cooler/cold, it becomes low pressure and will suck oil into and on to the clutch. This is the problem. This unit is sealed even so there are no gaskets its only that the Germans machined the parts so precise they seal metal metal. Anyway, leave the bottom hole open. Enjoy the ride.

That makes sense. I get slip when the engine is good and warm and at about 5k on the tac I feel the tac increase without any more power going to the wheels. Probably this shit as it seems it happens to ALL k1200s. Never heard it explained like thos though, everyone just says do a replace job as if it's not gonna happen again. Thanks for sharing your comment, glad I found this video too.

@grabir01 you absolutely have no idea what you are talking about. There are three points from which oil can contaminate your clutch. Engine seal, transmission seal, and dot 4 from your clutch slave. The bell housings are not sealed to begin with, so no pressure can build up, not that it ever would. Seals leak because they are old and worn. If you don't replace them, then they will continue to leak. If your clutch is not slipping then it is purely because you have drilled a hole to allow the oil to leak out. I will bet you anything that the underside of your bike is an oily mess.

@Freebyrd1991 do not follow his advice, he doesn't know what he is talking about. You can not repair your clutch by his method.

Once done this you may consider adding Omega 917 to revitalize the seals... not in anyway associated with them nor their products but used it for instance in a steering rack that was leaking heavily and after 400 km's no leaks whatsoever... absolute wonders for seals

Hi! I wonder if the clutch is still working. What about your long-term experience after your CoCa Cola treatment? I have the same problem with my K1200RS (1997), already the second time. I may alternatively use degreaser instead of Coca Cola, even if it is more expensive.

May I ask what size holes you bore into the clutch housing?

I have heard that things go better with coke but all you are doing is kicking the can down the road. You need to fix those seals.
