When the water pump bearings fail, and it seizes, the belt can become destroyed and it breaks and falls off. That was my problem. At 1:43, you showed a routing diagram for a new belt. Thank you for showing the belt routing. I owe you a beer for that one!

Nice video. Straight forward. No bs. Did not know about the bleed hole. This is my second pump. 153000 miles. Thx

Sorry, I'm old skool. I take and run a very thin wipe of gasket seal on the front and back of the gasket before assembly.

Another good thing to do is each of the wp bolts you take out one at a time and put in same hole in the new pump. Now would also be a good time to clean any areas that leaked coolant with brk. cleaner.

great video I don't understand why to drain all the antifreeze out of the radiator? With the W.P being center of the motor gravity plays a part of the fluid in radiator?
@rayg67457 жыл бұрын
Jay len not to mention anti freeze isn't cheap I'm leaving in as much as possible lol

Right at 2:50, pause it there, what is that part that is right above his thumb and the water pump that has the hose running into it? I'm trying to fix that part because the hose that goes into it has a bad leak.
@hotdogjoe40397 жыл бұрын
never mind, I found out that its the tensioner that has an elbow that goes from the tensioner to the intake. This is a common coolant leak that happens. Now I can go to the parts store and fix it.

Joseph Franks ... Yes... Those are chronic leaders on this engine. Hope you replaced the elbows with the updated metal ones.

Last time we did this. Had to torque down the bolts. Then do a 90 degree turn on some or all of them. I can't Remember. I don't know if you said that and i didn't hear it?

Good video. The one thing I'm pointing out is the LeSabre in the video was using yellow coolant but GM cars are supposed to use red coolant.

I was gone say that but u noticed it already

I have the same car. DexCool (red) is nasty stuff. I recommend flushing and putting the 50/50 (green) in. I promise you won't regret it.
@nickseulovski6 жыл бұрын
User Name agreed dex cool is garbage
@dontblameme63286 жыл бұрын
You are wrong there buddy... The factory coolant is Dex-cool which is orange and also GARBAGE. A smart owner flushes that Dex-Crap out and replaces it with good ol ethylene glycol green coolant like the one in the vid.

I don't get why every single vid on changing the water pump , people feel the need to drain the Radiator, have changed a few of these now, and never had to drain radiator, if ya just pull the front two main bolts on the pump itself with a pan under the car you can save yourself Having to drain the Radiator
