Man thats badass. I wanted to do something to my old 2000 2500 Silverado 4x4. Had 296k rustfree and 6.0. Still sounded good. I figured as soon as i touched it with a turbo it would go bang. But looking at this vid has me wondering. I cant believe all was staying together when you had it screaming. Very cool. Sold my beautie for 2k. Want it back now.

I just tore down my lm7 298,xxx miles. Still has cross hatching. Leaked oil not burnt. Putting back together with all the upgrades this week. Looking at building another with single turbo to swap in next year. Thanks for some inspiration.

I found a '95 Suburban 2500 I'm trying to buy, if I get it I'm planning on dumping the 6.5 and putting a gen 3/4 6.0 in it. How much boost you run? Similar power levels? I might run a single w/ low boost for better towing.

the beater bomb with the procharger got over 1200 and nothing was done internally, the only thing changed in the entire engine was a few parts in the heads themselves.

Exactly. They have made over 1000 whp but its not going to last at that level. Keep a Gen IV motor under 800 whp with lots of fuel and it should live a happy life

CSalev3 honestly buy a junk one for 200$ plus a 300$ master kit and go through it and then take it to a reputable "dyno" and after a few transmission builds, you can do it in your sleep like me

the reason is Ford owners are pissed cause they spend $10k or more to make 1000hp and us junk yard 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 guys spend $3k or less and make that much hp or more. turbos are the key for these motors for long lasting easy hp. LS all the way.

these engines have proven to be able to withstand 1200hp bone stock. The beater bomb mustang started out with a stock 5.3 and a procharger.

Can you stop posting incorrect info all over this video? The 5.3, especially the Gen III 5.3 is NOT as strong as the 6.0. The gen iii 5.3 (and gen iv if you plan on driving it for more than a week) will not stand up to 1200hp. The 6.0 has made 1000whp with a stock bottom end but I've never seen a 5.3 do that.

I am so glad I came across your video. I own a 2000 Chevy Suburban 1500 with factory 5.3L V8. I am looking to increase HP by adding a turbo or a supercharger or even swap my 5.3 with a 6.0 or an 8.1L V8s. What would you recommend adding a turbo or a supercharger or a complete swap? can you please tell me what turbo you have in yours and the costs if possible? i am looking to increase HP for smoother highway driving/cruising. idk if you have done much to it but the 5.3 can handle the most power on a stock engine of any of the ls engines so it makes the most sense to stick with it.

I got a great deal on a turbo its brand new replacement for a 1980s peter built and I'm told its a single twin its a weird looking thing but its bin sitting on his self still in the originall unopened box wrapped in plastic I paid $140 but I have no idea how to plumb in this turbo at all what would a shop charge to get this beast out into my 2013 5.3 I don't really care what it'll cost nor do I care about my warranty just curious

Not too knowledged in these engines but my guess is just about the same as this truck or more with the right 93 octane or e85 fuel kit on it. When people say these engines can handle power stock, they mean bone stock 200k mile timing chain stock. 🤣🤣🤣

if it is the 5.3 you can do just about anything. The engines can handle 1200hp with a stock setup.

I've heard of people getting up to 100 hp out of just swapping the cam. Aside from that, get better pistons and raise your compression. Or if you have a couple Grand to throw at it you can go turbo or get a lsa supercharger. Do a little research. There's plenty of builds out there

yes and no the stock 5.3 is 9.5 this truck just made 600+ hp I wouldn't go below 9.0 with today's modern tuning. now throw 6.0 heads on and gm performance .040 head gaskets and boost it stock is .056

77 nipples problem is they had the stock 5.3 cam so a lot of boost was probably lost from overlap

Well the truck has 220k+ so stock no boost it probably puts a little over 230 to the tires so 18 psi is reasonable for the power it's making

@@tannerharkey ontop of that I believe stock the 5.3 depending on year make 295bhp and 300lbs of torque. So for having 200k miles and stock that's a pretty impressive number. Not sure how much longer that block will last though on stock piston rings, valves, lifters etc.
