so stock C5 with only 3600 stall and 3.42 gears and headers ? was it tuned for the headers ....car is a beast

Not a beast. 350 wheel best. Converter doing all the work.

Not even 350 to the wheels. Maybe 290 -300 to the wheels. Lol why a 3600 stall in a stock car lol. He should’ve installed a stage 3 cam and then went with a 3600 stall. Even better a 4000 stall. He should’ve upgraded the heads and springs for sure.

How’s the drive ability? Would it work in drive troughs? I’m trying to build a better platform faster than the 5th gen Camaro and I think C5 is the way to go. But would like to daily 8 months out of the year..wonder if a 4K converter too much if I want a Big cam and nitrous 😅

c5 is better to keep stock but if you wanna build go for it but i definitely go for a fire bird or pontiac gto they have the same engine but better to work on cause they are bigger you’re gonna blow your brains out in the engine bay of the c5 especially trying to find a good tranny lots of fabricating to be done

3.42 is a must if you have an A4 Trans car. The 3600 stall will depend on your intended purpose for the car. I would be hesitant to install on a car intended to handling the tight stuff. If you want to max straight line, I think you’re fine. This is my 98 C5 with RPM built A4 & 3.42. Also about 9.5 lbs of boost 😊. Hey man great video just had a couple questions, my 09 vette with the 6L80e and 3600 stall has trans temps of 190-200 in regular daily driving but when i push it the trans temp will go up as high as 215. Is this damaging the tranny? What is normal operating temp for these auto 6l80 and is a cooler necessary if you have a 3600 stall?

Hey there; '04 C5 4L60E daily driver here. I copy/pasted this from a search result: "The optimal temperature range for transmission fluid is 175 to 220 degrees. Above that, for every 20 degrees, bad things happen, starting with the formation of varnish at 240 degrees, followed by seals hardening, plates slipping, seals and clutches burning out, carbon being formed, and, ultimately, failure". I haven't installed an external transmission cooler on the C5 like I did on my turbocharged Volvo. All I did was disconnect the transmission cooler lines that connect to and from the radiator and re routed them in front of the radiator; with some low pressure power steering hose, clamps and a smaller "RV/Towing" trans. fluid cooler from a local auto parts store. Secured the cooler in place in front of the radiator with zip ties. The object is to keep the transmission fluid from being heated by the engine's radiator to operating temperature and over heated by friction, but instead only cooled by the small external cooler.

@@MustangGuy1996 I haven't moved the cooler lines out of the radiator on the C5 but temps are around 190 cruising around. On the '97 Volvo 850R turbo that I modded, drove and sold, I could touch the trans. cooler and it was not nearly as hot to the touch as the radiator. I know that's not too helpful, but it was definitely cooler to the touch.

I have a 3600 stall in my fbody and I used an old corvette dry sump oil cooler as a tranny cooler. Still goes through the radiator then the big ass cooler. Temps stay around 160 degrees once warmed up.
