I actually already have the 12” desk fan! Got it from my high school years ago. I’m not sure if a 6” version was ever available though.

I’m surprised you’ve come across another one of these rare 18” Hampton Bay (SMC) SP-18’s. There don’t seem to be too many of these around anymore. I believe SMC also made a rotary switch model either branded under SMC, Super, or even this Hampton Bay name. Will you ever pick up any of those rotary models if you ever find one?

Interestingly the 18” Hampton Bay fans are still very common in Canada. I definitely will scoop up a rotary switch model if I find one, particularly the 18” Super version. It’s my biggest childhood fan, as my elementary school had dozens of them.

That’ll be cool to try to find a Super version or any others with the rotary dial. I don’t seem to be able to find any of these SMC’s anymore where I am down in the Hudson Valley NY area.

It was made by SMC, the same manufacturer who was responsible for Super fans in the 90s and early 2000s, hence the similar appearance.

Is this one of the models that were recalled? I can never remember which models of 18" pedestal fans were recalled

I’m honestly not too sure. The model number actually does match up with the fans mentioned in the recall, but the recall was exclusive to the US, not Canada. So whether this fan is technically a recalled model or not is still unclear.
