I did this to my CRV today without removing the seat or buckle. Just took the cover off, cleaned and sprayed the switch.

Thanks for the info on the little red switch. 2000 Accord coupe with SRS light a year ago, my cheap scanner showed 9-3 code, driver side seatbelt latch. I followed your guidance to open the latch- did not need to remove seat. Cleaned it while in place with a LOT of electrical contact spray. Cleared code. Code did not return until yesterday, nine months later. This time I just sprayed a lot of electrical contact cleaner into the latch without disassembling it. Spray, click, spray, click for five minutes. Cleared the code. Has not returned. Thanks for the info.

Great vid I had NOOOO idea the seat buckle involved THAT much work. Last week I had my drivers seat buckle replaced at the dealer. Funny thing originally my 02 accord lx had a tacata airbag recall. They fixed that and told me My SRS light came on and I had to bring it in for the buckle replacment. So you all know, this is a lifetime warranty repair AS LONG as theirs a computer code stored in memory. The dealer replaced tge drivers and passengers seats buckles no charge.

Honda and our local Honda dealership will not cover my SRS light as part of their lifetime warranty on the seat belt, even though the sensor is clearly part of the seat belt... very disappointing but I'm glad you shared the fix with us! Nice video! By the way, for at least a 2001 model. You can just move the driver seat forward, and be able to disconnect the seat buckle cable right underneath.

thank for video. did not have tester to reset code so had to disconnect seat belt buckle connector then reconnect to erase fault. otherwise removing seat would have been unnecessary.

FYI: First check with your local dealer about the lifetime warranty on the seatbelts. They should replace them for free in many instances.

Great video, but for myself, CAIG DeoxIT D5 would work great for cleaning this switch. Thank you! ... EDIT: It's been more than a year and the light came on again. Bit the bullet and ordered a new OEM buckle ($76.00), Problem solved! Hopefully this will be the last time...

What is the Airbag light format in this vehicle? The three appearances I see vehicle dependent are "Air Bag", "SRS" or a driver fastened and facing a bag.

Check the ODB fuse if it is blown to be able to read the code first

What is the scanner called and how can I find one? The mechanics in my area want 600-1200 to fix my SRS light on my 2001 Honda..I can't afford that

The one I am using is a maxisys elite , way to advanced for a single use . You can probably find an Airbag Reader eraser for way cheaper than the elite version. But remember the eras will not work unless problem is fixed

you could do that but if the one you get from junk yard have the same problem if not tested. either way , it is a simple fix and not that complicated

All srs problems are fixed for free by Honda Life time warranty on all seat belt buckles etc. Don't fix yourself.

I called both Honda and a local dealership and they told me that the sensor is not covered, only seat belt function. Some people have gotten theirs covered... So inconsistent lol. I'll use this fix for now since Honda will not cover mine

I thought that seatbelt switch got nothing to do with airbag.

Some Car models do and others don't . Not all Seat Belts buckle are connected with the Airbag Control Module
