When they showed Jr during the song I had to pause and walk away for a few minutes. As a new father that really tore me up. He took an incredible burden on his shoulders and carried and entire fan base… I’d argue the weight was too much, but in the end he became an incredible role model, father and friend to all. In that sense, he became an even greater man than his father.

Without Dale Earnhardt in the field on those glorious Sunday afternoon races nothing was ever the same! He was not only exciting to watch but always gave us hope to win! The man left his legacy on and off the race track. But his greatest achievement will always be remembered on last day of racing passing the torch to a new generation of drivers! This man was a true legend in my mind.

I never got to watch him race and it’s hard to watch these I can’t imagine what it was like for his longtime fans watching that first race after he passed

I was always a Jeff Gordon fan, but until Dale died I hadn't realized how much of the enjoyment was in watching them race each other. It was never the same.

Was a huge Rusty Wallace fan, Dale would always find a way to beat Rusty. Would make me so mad. I didn't appreciate Dale until he passed. I haven't watched NASCAR since. Rip to the greatest to ever get behind the wheel

Love him or not he was the face of Nascar. A while back, a few racing series started to take exception to fans booing drivers before and after the race. But Dale said it best; "I don't mind the booing. It's when they go silent as you pass by, that would bother me. That means they're not paying attention anymore."

Teresa sucks. But thank you for uploading this video, I hadn’t seen it. Huge Earnhardt fan, even named one of my sons “Dale” in 1999 and have a #3 tattoo (don’t tell Teresa, I’m sure she will try to sue me and my attorney will rightfully humiliate her). I felt like a part of me died with Dale and haven’t been able to watch all of these things until now, 23 years after he left us. 💔

I never appreciated Dale until after he passed. I wasn’t a Gordon fan either. I was anyone but then fan. As I’ve watched countless videos and read countless articles. He was a man’s man. He gave up everything for his dreams. Family, friends everything for it to all come back around into his life.
