Great video! I am currently going through the same issue with my ‘03 Ranger and some people think that the reason why it isn’t starting is the fuel pump or some messed up relays., I’ll definitely check for loose cables now. Thank you

This seems to be a common issue with "Ford Rangers". I have a 1999 XLT with this issue that I am currently going through now. Will have to check that wire and see if it's an issue. Thanks for the video.

Scan tool finished at 3:09. They probably did their testing at the relay, and then because access is usually poor in most cars, didn't test at the J box or pump. It's too bad because access in this truck seems way better than normal, and those codes should already have raised suspicion of something else going on. By the time the tank is down, they are committed so didn't take the risk of electrical testing with fuel neck removed. Gotta think that normally a shop would warranty the missed diagnosis, then find and fix the actual wiring problem. After all, they made their labor on the fuel pump. Maybe they got busy and couldn't get to it right away, and the customer was already steaming angry at the cat theft. Good case history, these kind of cases need to stick in our minds.

Had a 2003 v6 3L Ranger that would not start after sitting unused for two years. Long process due to multiple faults. 1. First checked for fuel. I could hear the pump run for the 2 seconds after the key turned to start. Pressure Guage showed the pressure immediately dropped after the pump shut off. Fuel pump part OK but pressure regulator, which is part of the pump complex, was defective so had to replace the pump anyway. 2. While the box was off to replace the pump it was noticed that the rear spring shackles we corroded to nothing so replaced those also. Still no start. 3. Live data showed the stone cold engine thought it was hot already. That was due to a defective engine coolant sensor. The ranger 3L has two ECT sensors, one for the dash Guage which was good and one for the ECM which was bad. Replaced the defective ECT sensor and the engine starts but runs rough. 4. Misfire code appears. The ignition coil block has a bad pair. Replaced that and now she starts and runs just fine. Also replaced the fuel filter and the EGR hose which had gone rotten. Sometimes it's not just one thing.

my crankshaft sensor was the problem. for some reason they come in two parts and i was missing the other part. it looks like a like a T and just snaps on to the part that gets bolted on.

Was that on the drivers side? Been trying to get my 97 ranger going, swapped the fuel pump, swapped the relays and fuses and still won't start up, cranks but no start

I hope you can help me out here. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 4x4 with a 6cyl. 4.0L engine. I learned from a different video a year ago that the accessory relay in the passenger kicker panel could be the problem. Cranking, but not starting. I replaced the relay and it fired right up. I replaced the relay again a week ago and it started right up and now it isn't starting again. What can be causing the relay to keep going out? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I have the same issue with my 2011 single cab. But mine has the converter and every seem to be good as fuses, relays etc. I even took down the starter took it to the auto part ten tested it there and everything is working fine. Put it back but still cranks I can see fan turn 1 or 1 1/2 turn and it goes off. What else should I check ? Thanks for your help in advance.

After replacing the fuel pump in my 2006 Jeep grand cherokee laredo 3.7 WK- Im now having a problem with a vapor lock and my new pump is making a ringing/humming noise off and on-is there a way to fix it with a inline check valve or inline filter of some sort. I have to release pressure on the fuel rail to re-crank it after it runs for more than 20 minutes/ which is a possible fire risk which makes it not safe to drive. Any suggestions? Reply

It was corrosion. Someone probably pierced that wire a long time ago while testing for power and never sealed it. It finally couldn't handle the load. Thanks for watching.
