Billy Incardona has always been partial to Reyes. I can't blame him because he has practically covered Bata's entire international career. He watched as Reyes evolved from a legendary shooter from the Philippines, to becoming a lethal hustler in the US pool halls, and onward to becoming the greatest player in the game.

Clark Quismundo, I see you have been following the career and friendship between Billy Incardona and Efren. I missed the times when Billy Incardona and Grady Mathews together comment on matches that have Efren playing. Sometimes Billy would get you thinking that he's ready to get it on with Grady usually over Efren. Hahaha!

37:00 Reyes makes a great 1 ball shot in the corner pocket for perfect shape on the 8 ball and subsequently the win. The commentators mentioned how excellent the shot speed was for shape on the 8 but failed to say (as is often the case with Efren) that if he missed that shot, the ball would be blocking Mika's 9 ball into the corner pocket, making it much more difficult to run out for the win. This occurs because many commentators are so impressed that Efren made a difficult ball that they are blinded to the fact that it was a two-way shot. Cheers!

Efren schooled a lot of younger players during his 2-decade reign as the King of Pool (1990's to 2000's). Even playing past his prime, in the early 2010's when he is already a senior citizen, he continues to school young guns and pretenders waiting to take down an old man. He's really the GOAT.

@Perci Val Technically it's "everybody" and "women" divisions. As for why "women" division exists at all, I'd say to not discourage those few women that decided to pick up this sport or they'll be railed by average male players otherwise. Now, why not enough women care about this sport, I'd say it's 100% social and not physical as these dumbasses in the video assume. Consider this: even a toddler can do the weak ass snooker break and yet you hardly see any women playing snooker, so it's obviously not about lack of power. Mind you, I'm not saying there is something to fix in this status quo, I have no issues with one gender not giving two shits about other's gender activities.

Billiards is one of the few sports where women can contend with men virtually on equal basis. Sure, the break is a big deal. But it ain't all aboot power. In fact, ER isn't known for a particularly powerful break. Chicas can very easily beat teh men with good skillz 😸
@killah78323 жыл бұрын

The break at 1:09:10 kind of proved Tony's point that women can compensate for lack of 'power' with technique. With the proper technique, you won't scratch straight in the side off the break like that.
@IcedDragon4202 жыл бұрын
@@CarlCramer88 it's common for pool commentators to talk about women playing. Even the women commentators nowadays will say the same stuff! Wish I had a link to another Efren match where three commentators were present, one of them being a woman, and all three part took in a conversation about women playing pool and how even though they don't have the same touch at the table as men they still have the finesse and knowhow to make their way around the table
@davidwylie98462 жыл бұрын
@@ChasingChinster You missed the point. The point is that men have a more powerful break than woman regardless. The scratch in the side is inconsequential. Having a more powerful break with a small chance of scratching to the side has a higher percentage of winning. As opposed to having a weak break which has a lower percentage of winning regardless if they use technical abilities to scratch less often.

@silvaaa704 жыл бұрын
In some rules yes 8 on the break wins. But because that is mostly just plain luck, many don't play that.. In BCA rules, if the 8 is pocketed on the break, the breaker has choice: 8 ball gets spotted and breaker shoots from where the cueball is or breaker gets to break again. If the 8 is pocketed and the cue ball is pocketed on the break, the non breaking player gets the same choice: spot the 8 and shoot the cueball from where it's at or he/she can break.

I can agree in most sports the physical difference in the genders is undeniable. Like let Bruce Jenner dress up and go play women in sports and see how fair that is. Anyway pool is a different animal and i think it's all about training, fundamentals, desire, commitment, and a host of other attributes to become great or "good at something" anyone who puts in the time in the right way will be a great player. I'm 67 and only started serious pool a few years ago. i've put in the time and today i'm tough to beat. I think they should have let Jennifer Barretta on the 2020 Mosconi cup team. Im just sayin
