Thanks for posting this! I need some spacers for my 2006 crv to fit my winter wheels and this is the only video I could find that showed me what I needed to know.

Will 5mm hubcentric spacers work? I am ordering the same wheels, 225/75R15 tires, no lift. I want the smallest spacers I can use that will clear the calipers, but be able to use the existing (lug)bolts... if possible.
@mikesbackyardmechanic Жыл бұрын
Hello there! We have found that it is best to test the spacer with the new rim before ordering the full set. Discount Tire allowed us to do that before ordering the new rims, they had a 'dummy' test rim there. (We ordered the rims from Discount Tire.) Based on our test, I believe 5mm may not be enough additional space for the new wheel to clear the calipers. But test it to be sure. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our channel!

Hi there, Do you know if on a 2005-2006 crv 225/75/16 will fit on original tyres and original suspension without rubbing? Thanks
@mikesbackyardmechanic7 ай бұрын
Certainly! Let’s explore the tire size compatibility for a 2005-2006 Honda CRV. Stock Tire Sizes: The original tire size for the 2005-2006 CRV is 215/65/16. If you’re considering larger tires, it’s essential to ensure they fit without rubbing against the fenders or suspension components. Larger Tire Options: Based on user experiences and discussions in forums, here are some options: 215/75/15: Some users have successfully used this size without any issues on stock rims. These tires are taller and wider than the stock ones. 225/70/16: This size should fit without problems on a 2004 CRV, which is similar to the 2005-2006 models. 225/75/16: While this size might fit, it could potentially rub when loaded or during tight turns. Considerations: Keep in mind that increasing tire width also affects the overall height/diameter. If you decide to go with larger tires, ensure proper clearance by checking the wheel offset and backspacing. Remember that CRVs have relatively low torque/HP ratings, so going too large may impact performance. In summary, while 225/75/16 might fit, it’s essential to verify clearance and consider the trade-offs. If you’re unsure, consulting a tire professional can help you make an informed decision. Our local Discount Tire store let us test fit our new wheels and tires before we purchased them. You could try to do the same. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our KZbin cannel! Enjoy your CRV modifications! 🚗🔧

What size rim are you upgrading to?? I have a 2004 Honda CR-V and I’m only trying to lift it an inch, do I still have to get wheel spacers like can’t I keep the stock rims and buy all terrain tires??
@mikesbackyardmechanic2 жыл бұрын
Hello there. The rims that we used in our upgrade are posted in the description of episode 3. If you keep the stock rims, you do not need wheel spacers. Wheel spacers are only required on rims that have a different profile than the stock rims. A lift does not impact whether you need wheel spacers, only the type of new rims impacts it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Am I the only one who took physics 101? If you want BETTER HANDLING wouldn’t you want to Smaller diameter wheels to lower the car?
@mikesbackyardmechanic2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I believe your physics theory may be correct! However, the purpose of lifting a Sports Utility Vehicle is for better off-road performance over rough terrain, not to attain better handling on paved roads. I don't think a lowered Honda CRV with even smaller wheels would do very well over rocky, uneven, off-road trails (the intended purpose of this lift). However, thanks for commenting and watching!

Rotational size or wheel size? Because 16 inch rims with a /45 would look stupid. To fill the arches well rim and/or tyre would need to grow.

Arghhh at cutting factory threads man. Unreversible now or what?
@mikesbackyardmechanic2 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Factory studs are easily replaced with new. Very reversible. You would be surprised how often studs break while a tire shop is replacing tires, the studs are replaced without the customer even knowing. Thanks for watching and commenting!
