Yeah many Japanese love a good manly van every now and then. I remember this 80's Japanese import Ford van with some pretty neat kit like the one in this Astro, actually it might have been the same brand even because that big ass rear bumper looks pretty much the same. I saw this one back in 06' I think (in Chile, of all places). Back then we used to move newly imported cars from the docks to the dealers directly so we saw a bunch of rarities but proper American cars have always been the most scarce. When this van came around, a friend of mine couldn't believe it really came from Japan and not "some trailerpark".

@ 2:34 theres a white Honda Acty. Apparently mine is at the port in Japan waiting to be shipped and it looks identical to that (of course they all look very similar) but that could be it! 1997 HA4

@Tom E The 4.3 litre v6 should have the same bolt pattern for the 700r4 as the 350. The 4.3 is more less a 350 minus a pair of cylinders.

I worked for a Chevy dealership in Spokane WA and we had a Chevy Astro van as a customer shuttle van/errand vehicle. We beat on that van every chance we had. Seriously, we were ruthless on it and it never had any issues. Felt bad later on when the dealership replaced it with the model that came after the Astro... they simply removed the company decals and put it for sale on the used lot.

Man that thing is nice with the StarCraft ground kit👍 especially it being a regular not high top. I want one either a GMC or Chevy just like this with the ground kit. But I would really love a 92-95 fullsize van with the StarCraft ground kit. Currently own a 95 GMC Vandura conversion van if I'm able to get my hands on that kit I'll slap it on mine

The rails have probably rusted due to the salty moist air, not necessarily because they have got wet, the rusting would be less uniform IMO, wish I could find one this nice on the east coast.

Friends of my dad's had an Astro, but it wasn't that fancy, at least still a nice van, and I have ridden in it with them. Unfortunately, those vans discontinued in the spring of '05, so I'll never ride those again.

How much would this type of Astro be to import?, I’d rather have a flat top Astro. Looks like my white Starcraft but with a better roof. Mines a 1999 and still not done 80k had it for years and never let me down but the kids love it

A good interior detail some minor body work new rims and tires same size as what's on there and put some bags on it to lay it low and eliminate that tire to fender gap at cruise nights or car shows. Yeah I think that will make a nice cruiser

@CHINK ZHANG CHINKY ZHANGY well here in kuwait we cant import right hand cars and convert them ...but we can import left hand cars converted before importing no one would check or notice unless its a famous car that is known to be only right hand like skyline GT-r these only came in right hand so if they see one in kuwait with left hand steering they will know its converted lol
