Glad it helped. The new computer that the dealer put in died 9 months later and I got it replaced for free, but I had moved to a different state I had to pay $300 for the labor. Then the engine blew up about 3 months later. I loved that car. I suggest changing over to synthetic oil. The engine has a design flaw where the oil passages are too small and eventually clog up. Synthetic oil helps with that problem. Good luck!

Thanks... Very helpful... So, did you finally get it fixed? What was the actual issue? I have one of those cars, too...! Thanks again...

I have since sold the car, but I believe the issue was the ECM Engine Control Module. I replaced it and it worked good for about a year.

Awesome vid. Bro helped me tremendously I have an 02 Chrysler Sebring 4 door sedan hardtop and I got the same exact code that got read off to you and I'm pretty sure it is because I am 1800 miles overdue for an oil change so as of today I am going to get an oil change and then I am going to reset the light and I will let you know how this works out for me thank you so much for sharing it was very helpful.

Bummer! If you haven't already change to synthetic oil. First my water pump cracked on the inside and leaked coolant into the engine crank case. Had to have it towed, replaced the water pump and flush the engine. Then about 3 months later it blew up on the highway. 2002 Sebrings have badly designed engines that had really small oil passages that easily clogged and were redesigned in 2003 models. But if you use synthetic oil and change the oil like every 5000 (instead of the 7000 recommended by synthetic oil makers) then you should be able to keep it running a long time. Just watch for the oil light on the dash. Mine flickered for like a month before it blew up.

This was great. I have the 02 sedan and I am going outside to do this in a few minutes. I am sorry about the turn out for your car. Wish me luck though bc I can't get another one lol. Thanks for the upload. BTW for those who say its not a new trick, it is for the ones who never heard of it, js.

@Dodgekam2014 I think Mazda and Chrysler had a strategic partnership for a couple of years where they shared some parts and technology (I could be wrong), same with Mitsubishi. In 2001, the Mitshubishi Lancer and Dodge (Neon?) were essentially the same car. In the 70s/80s Lancer was a Dodge model car name. Oh and don't forget the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000GT were essentially the same car. So it is not uncommon for similar features to show up in different makes of cars

Got a question for you when the speedometer stopped moving what's wrong that means a blown fuse can you tell me that when your next interview your next video rather all right I got the same car you have I really hollaback thank you but you can show me and you next video
@saltyshellback3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Sorry, but I sold that car about 5 years ago. Not sure why the speedometer would stop working. The only thing I can think of is that the computer is messed up or like you think, there is a blown fuse. But if it is a blown fuse, then you will have to figure out why the fuse blew. Sorry, I couldn't help more.

P0601 is an internal PCM failure. You may not experience any drivability issues at first but you will eventually be left stranded, The PCM needs to be replaced. The dealer costs a small fortune and still need to have them program it. Very common in many Chrysler/Dodge models. I always use a company in florida - www.allcomputerresources.com - They send them out programmed to your VIN and keys. Have had a few of these already. just my 2 cents

Yes, this was in Texas where they do require smog inspection. The place I went to for my state inspection has been very good to me and I have no reason to think they are trying to screw mw. The dude even told me how to clear the code. Oh well, the car is history now. I sold it.

I have been wanting to get a reader for a while, but couldn't justify the need to get one based on the number of times I have needed it. They are around $100-$200, but if you go to most auto parts stores, they have one you can use for free. Losing the presets was a little bit of a pain, but not enough to go buy a reader...I'm a cheap SOB....lol

Yeah, I was living in a place where work was only 2 miles away. I would have walked to work if I wouldn't get killed on the road...lol There was only a 2 lane road to work and the speed limit was 55 MPH and no shoulder to walk on. In the winter, my car barely got warm before I got to work. Sadly the engine blew at 110K and I had it replaced and sold it. I still love that car. If only the engine didn't suck :-(

How do you rest an oil light on this car
@saltyshellback8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure you can reset it. From what I remember, you either have to replace the oil sensor, or flush the engine every oil change. The problem with this model year is that the engines had badly designed oil passages. They are too small and are prone to clog. The engine on this car blew up at around 90,000 miles due to a clogged oil passage. If you own this car, I recommend doing an engine flush and religiously changing the oil every 3,000 miles. Hope that helps.
@saltyshellback13 жыл бұрын
@Skellyrm Yup, $1100 later, I have a "new" PCM, no check engine light and a new inspection sticker. I think my next car is going to be a 1973 Nova. No computer, and it gets 12 miles per gallon...BUT, I can buy a lot of gas for $1100 :-)
@saltyshellback11 жыл бұрын
It was $1100 for a new (rebuilt) computer installed plus troubleshooting. They offered me an extended warranty for $2300 and would apply the $1100 towards the $2300, making it an additional $1200 for another 100K miles of full powertrain warranty. I declined it, but wish I would have taken it, because things kind of went downhill from there :-( long story. I have since sold the car...lol

That means your computer is on the blink. If you don't have a state safety inspection, and don't need to get it fixed, I would leave it alone. The computer is bad. A Gray Key means that you have a Sentry Key Immobilizer! That means If the PCM is replaced by a re-manufactured PCM then you need to have a dealer or professional flash the PCM with your mileage and VIN or the Gray Key wont work. If you try to buy a USED PCM then the Gray Key wont work unless you program the Key with the Sentry code belonging to the USED PCM. But it wont work unless you have the VIN from the USED PCM to program it! Pain in the Ass!!!
