ASD Relay, Auto Shutdown Relay, it sends power to the B+ of the PCM, the fuel injectors, the ignition coils, the Heated O2 Sensors and more contacts on the main PCM and maybe a couple of other items. This is a very popular item on Chrysler vehicles and for different models and different years, it is wired up differently but fairly the same functions. Since there are many items needing power from the Relay and you have a poor connection, the engine will die at low RPM pointing to the fuel injectors not delivering enough fuel at idle but if you press the gas pedal to increase RPM, the PCM will deliver more fuel to help keep the engine running better. Thank you for this video. There are many cases similar to yours but instead of corrosion problems, rodent problems of eating the wires so this is a semi-common problem with Chrysler vehicles. (For 2001 Jeep) Testing the voltage at the A connector on the PCM, pin A22 coming from Fuse #20 (ASD / Fuel Pump) might show this problem while the engine is trying to idle or while trying to start it, the voltage will be less than battery voltage, hopefully. If the main PCM has other input problems, it will prevent the ASD Relay from contacting and prevent the engine from starting, it's a type of fail-safe device to prevent additional problems. So in a way, it can prevent the engine from starting and it can kill the engine from running based on many other problems. Wire problems are not part of its fail-safe duties so these types of troubles are hard to find, this is why we need to understand how to diagnose electrical problems. A simple voltmeter may have found this problem leading you under the fuse box, since a simple visual inspection would not see this problem hiding under the fuse box so good find in this video, much appreciated.

My dad almost has the same problem. When it is cold, his van starts up fine and runs fine. When it's warm, it tends to have trouble starting (I think it's a fuel problemo) but once it starts, it runs fine

On my 99 dodge caravan I already put in a new fuel filter and fuel pump! Ran for a few minutes, then died again: ( maybe this will be the problem...

CKP sensor is also a major problem on these vehicles from Chrysler
