@@savannahparton9277 I used a short socket with a long extension....and u can use a impact gun or a ratchet to loosen it up

You don't have to remove the gas tank , take out 4 bolts in the bed and slide it back about two feet and you can get to it from the top . Easy job than can be done in less than an hour .

Fuel pump is located under rear driver side passenger seat. If you remove bed you will not be able to get to it.

Was it the 4-pin (3L2Z-9H307-EC) or 7-pin (2L2Z-9H307-Hx) connector fuel pump? I ask because the 4-pin 2L2Z was discontinued and updated to the 3L2Z 7-pin giving us “does not fit” when searching online through our VINs showing conflicting OEM part numbers for our 2002 MYs. There are a few sites still selling the 4-pins; just wanted to get your thoughts-

the only thing i would have done different is use a floor jack to hold the tank while removing the straps and then to hold it in place for installing.

I do remember that the gas pump was cracked on top. There was a little puddle of gas of top of the gas pump unit. But we couldn’t see it at all until we pulled down the gas tank and found out that the gas pump unit was cracked and leaking

looking at buying a pump for my 2001 sport trac. Does it need the pump with the 1 tube ports or 2? I saw yours has 2 but it gives me different options to buy online.

1whitetyler if im not mistaking i think your sport trac has the 1 port. I think in 2002 year model they changed it to 2 ports but it should be the same process to remove and install. I think the best way to figure out if its a 1 port or 2 port is to ask your local auto parts store and ask if your fuel pump is with 1 port or 2 port and then buy it online since its usually cheaper online.

My timing chain tensioner on the passenger side had extended all the way out killing the my 02 sport trac, have replaced the tensioner as well as alternator,crankshaft sensor, coil pack, plugs and wires and last but not least downstream 02 sensor, it will crank but not start, any advice?

How long does fuel pump replacement last? I replaced my 02 explorer fuel pump in 2015 and my mechanic says it's bad again after 4 yrs.

Well typically a fuel pump should last you for a while. However, purchasing aftermarket fuel pumps is a gamble sometimes because they could turn out to be faulty since the materials are not the same. But if you have no issues with it then i wouldnt bother to replace it. You should tell your mechanic the reason why it needs to be replaced, because if your vehicle isnt having any issues such as misfire or your vehicle shutting off spontaneously and is running fine how it is then i wouldn’t see a reason to replace it

juancho_DR sorry about that, but not too tight cuz then you might run the risk of breaking the ring. But i would say as it starts to get tight n it doesnt move as easily, i would probably give it a little snug and thats it

Eric Ferguson I agree!!....i just finished replacing the timing chains, guides, cassettes, seals and gaskets on this same truck n its just dumb how the engine is designed. A pain on the ass haha

Alcantar6 the cover of the gas pump had a crack making gas flow out. When we dropped the gas tank there was a puddle of gas on top of the fuel pump

Alcantar6 well its pretty straight forward just how i demonstrated in my video. Idk if i mentioned it on my video but i would do this job when the gas tank is almost empty, it would make ur life easier
