In The End was easily in S tier just by virtue of cultural impact alone, before factoring in how much of a banger it is. The anime and gaming communities would not have survived the 2000s and early 2010s without the holy trinity of HyperCam 2, Windows Movie Maker, and Linkin Park.

The fact that Cornell didn't get the kind of copycats that Cobain and Vedder did was honestly sort of a silent way of showing respect, because precious few actually had the technical chops to pull that off and everyone knew that. Neither Cobain nor Vedder were what I would consider singers with a lot of vocal range, even though their vocals were still iconic, while Cornell's vocal abilities could've gone toe-to-toe with some of the best vocalists in rock history.
@jbstrevel94 Жыл бұрын
The only modern day rock artist that was heavily influenced by Cornell, that could hold a candle, *in my opinion* is Brent Smith of Shinedown. Brent’s said multiple times that Chris had a major impact on him. Which, out of all the mid-range vocalists of the 2000’s to today, Brent Smith has the best range and vocal chops to back it up.
@nicolasriveros943 Жыл бұрын
i would said Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge is the closest thing to a Cornell copycat in terms of vocal range when it comes to the post grunge/alt metal late 2000 acts. Which is funny since the musicians from that band made famous by working with a Eddie Vedder copycat in the first place lmao

I’m just a few years younger than Anthony and I do wonder if this tier list has so many ‘iconic tunes’ because of our age at the time and being so open and excited about new music and sounds. That early teenage phase is such an impressionable time. Or maybe someone here of a different generation can agree with me also that these songs are absolute bangers! 🔥
@tximinoman Жыл бұрын
It's because of that, of course. The moment you were a teenager tends to be when a lot of people (not saying this is your or Fantano's case) think music peaked. That's why the old people trope is complaining about "how they don't do music like they used to, man". In my head, the best couple of years for music were 2006 to 2008 because I was incredibly excited about it back then. I turned 17 in 06 and we started going to this club that on top of having a room for rap, and a room for electro, had a room for indie rock which was the genre I was really into at the time, also a new (and very short lived) TV channel centered in alternative/indie music appeared that year in my country. Those three years were a time of constant music discovery for me. There was always a new band, a new song, a new album to listen to, and it was very exciting. I started going to as many concerts as I could during that time also. Of course when I go back and listen to music from that era I have a lot of nostalgia for it even if I think many of the albums I used to listen back then don't hold up at all.

Literally one of my top 10 albums that I listen on repeat to this day without getting tired of it. There's something about how it merges Nu-metal, industrial metal, elctronic and screamo without any of it sounding corny, topped by Chester Bennington's voice being a gift from the heavens and Mike Shinoda being an outstanding rapper in comparison to every other rap-metal white boy rapper that sux massive balones. Never forget that RYM and Critics used to dunk on Linkin Park religiously (not on Nickelback level, but still). They have always been good. They just got an unfair amount of hate from Snobs and elitist it made me question my music taste that having LP as my favourite artist means that I have an awful music taste.
@nowokeplease8522 Жыл бұрын
Yeah music subjective as hell. I don't give a shit if people get into the intricacies and nuances of what makes music good, because you could do that with any music.

Disappointed you didn't bring out the Eddie Vedder voice for Wherever You Will Go (MadTV once made a sketch about Vedder voice overuse using that song) but glad you otherwise brought it out frequently this video.

Oh god Puddle of Mudd. In about 2018 I ended up sitting behind the lead singer on an international flight. It was economy seating. I knew it was him, because he was harassing his drummer, drunkenly telling him that Puddle of Mudd is going to break up because he texted his wife. He kept drinking until he passed out, and when I looked it up apparently he's doing really really bad. Wishing him luck smh

I will watch these videos PURELY to hear Fantano do impressions of vocalists. It's always a great time. EDIT: Nickelback getting a C is mind-blowing. I unironically enjoy "How You Remind Me," so that made my day.

Imagine writing the guitar part to Blurry and being stuck with Mudd Johnson singing the lead vocal.

God I really want his name to be Mudd Johnson. I don’t actually know what it is, but I’ll be damned if that man shouldn’t go to his grave with the name “Mudd Johnson” permanently attached to him.

Death Grips is an experimental American sitcom created by the Freemasons that airs as a primarily online original social and consciousness experiment, and is arguably a blood sequel to the 1987-1995 television series Twin Peaks. It centers around Zach Hill, a veterinarian, necromancer, and widowed father of 3 triplet daughters, whose sister Mexican Girl and best friend Kimmy-along with her teenage daughter-live together in a good neighborhood in Sacramento, California. Most of the series' ensemble cast have reprised their roles from similar previous life reincarnations, either as regular cast members or in guest appearances, such as with Les Claypool, Bjork, and Lucas Abela, with the exception of the late Karen Black, who alternated the role of medicinal healer in an alternate parallel showcase of congruent phenomenon. The show is produced by George Soros, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, in association with a special contract between Warp Records and Sony Music Entertainment.

This list should be looking even better. Nickelback and the Calling are easily A tier for me. Those are absolute classics that I would happily blast out of the car with the windows down
@scruvydom Жыл бұрын
Generally nailed it but Foolish as a C-tier???? You mud fam?? Sooo bittersweet and sultry, so smooth, so catchy, doesn't change up much, but just enough to keep you hooked - that lil break near the end where they cut out the backing track - "when I get the strength to leave... you"... Honestly one of my favorite RnB tracks ever, total L on that placement.

Puddle of Mud blurry's music video hit me hard. My friend has a similar situation with his kid and it really put it in perspective.

In the End & Diliemma, I agree with the placement. A 1000 miles is fun, Always got to think of the Terry Crew singing clip in White Chicks when it comes on. I didn't know Hot in Herre was 2002 (I thought it was later). Ashanti & Nickelback, I would have placed in B, and What's Love, I would have in S.

A Thousand Miles is such a catchy single that nearly 20 years later a gang would make a song rapping over this track called Who I Smoke where they brag about a series of murders they did in the Jacksonville area. And this song was so catchy they went to the top of the charts on the back of this awesome chorus and piano line.
