Still to this day, my totally favorite Harley ever made. The Sportster is so versatile. Easy and just plain enjoyable to ride.

I bought the same year, model and color Sporty back in 2003 with 1400 miles on it. Absolute happiest day of my life and that includes 2 wedding days and the birth of two boys. Even weighing in as much as 220 at the time, that bike was fast off the line and could usually take the TC88s in a sprint. Loud as hell with debaffled Cycle Shack slip ons but not too much loss in mid-range torque by keeping the crossover pipe. Reliability was solid, never an issue other than some notorious Evo oil blow by at the air filter. There’s always some asshole who calls it a girl’s bike but it’s typically some jealous RUB. Wish I hadn’t sold the bike which was ultimately totaled in a bad wreck with the guy I sold it to. Thanks for posting this, tons of nostalgia for me!

I own a 2002 harley davidson sportster 883 XL custom with 13,000 miles on it & honestly it's my favorite bike I ever owned. Its Mint condition just like this one, I never plan on selling it.

Traded my 2000 FXST for a 94 Chevy Silverado and now am about to get a 2002 Harley sportster 1200 custom. I absolutely love sportys.

Lost my self fabricated Dyna chopper (45 degree rake, 7" over upper tubes, 12'x2" bolt and nuts, simulating a falice/balls incorporated into the downtube) and everything else (house, car/truck) about 13 years ago due to an incomplete spinal cord injury, medical, and predatory lenders, and 65 year old me thought I'd never own, let alone ride another Harley again, until... my son in law's neighbor was letting go of her Sporty (exactly like this one, minus the stage one kit), but it was always garage kept, never dropped, came with a Thunderheader (like I had on my Dyna), has only 9,230 miles, and cost me $1,000! Rented Street Glide was a little rough (lost 1/3rd of my legs), my s-i-laws Wide Glide was a bit easier, but a rented Sporty 48 felt great, so I am beyond stoked and switching all of the little bs, but damn, what a great platform to start from!

I have the same bike, but color is black...which one is better, in terms of durability and reliability, this one or a 2002 Dyna Low Rider?

@@jpatrickgreenwhy do y'all like this bike? I know its a good year sporty and i might get one myself but just want to see what others think of it

@@WalkingDead520take a look at my other reply about why I liked it. Just a super fun bike to ride around town and hit some curves on. Not really a good choice for longer trips but for some old school muscle and charm this makes a great bar hopper for one.
@WalkingDead5205 ай бұрын
@@jpatrickgreen true. I will use mine for long and short distance. Im gonna extend the wheelbase by adding longer forks and to also give it the chopper look. It will be good for the freeway. Way better than a sport bike cafe racer style bike either way

@@WalkingDead520 if you like the look of the peanut tank sporty but want something more comfortable, I always thought the Dyna Street Bob was a good option too.
