great video, especially explaining the gasket. one mistake I made, I somehow got it in my head that the bracket goes inside of the piece that holds the thermostat in place.It goes on the outside. When I put it back together it leaked no matter how much I tightened it down. I ended up taking it to the shop, where the guy pointed out my mistake. Cost me a hundred twenty bucks, and I want to save everyone else from making the same mistake I made.

6:03 haha you're speaking the truth, man, why can't they make a funnel that actually pours and stays up properly? Always something like that when you work on stuff

When placing the gasket around the thermostat, does it matter which way it goes?

Tell me one thing. i have same car. The engine hot coolant (when thermostat open) pass through Upper hose than pass by radiator and back to engine Or opposite?
@nosilverharbinger6 жыл бұрын
I was just asking someone who was involved in manufacturing these thermostats for years about that. The thermostat is oriented so that the engine's coolant will contact the power pill (or other thermostat control mechanism - there are many). As the engine's coolant heats up it will eventually cause the thermostat to compress, opening a valve that allows the hotter coolant to pass into the radiator. The hotter the engine's coolant gets the more the thermostat compresses, until the valve fully opens, but it only opens a certain amount based on the temperature of the liquid contacting the pill. This is what maintains a certain amount of heat in your coolant system, and your heater core will produce heat on frigid days and nights when you need it the most as a result. Anyway, the hotter coolant will rise through the radiator fins, cool off, then return back to the engine through the upper hose and the cycle will repeat. Hope that helped.

@@juzrhyme712 how do you do that
@juzrhyme7124 жыл бұрын
@@evolutionentertainment8270 at the bottom of your radiator there is a screw named the petcock, ( should be the color white) Twist it and the coolant will start flowing out, some people even open the radiator cap, so it can flow quicker Now if your radiator doesn't have a petcock, then you can just remove the lower radiator hose, and it will do the same thing.
