Ty for this video. I’m a 25 year old woman and was able to do this on my 2012 Civic with no issue thanks to you and several other repair videos I’ve watched. I’ve replaced my blower motor, engine air filter, and now my thermostat thanks to helpful people like you giving us these gems. This was my first repair that I’ve done under the hood. I was intimidated at first but once I got going I found the confidence to continue. Thank you for saving me money and keeping me educated on my car. I love my civic! These cars are so reliable and relatively inexpensive and easy to repair when issues crop up. I’m a Honda owner for life. Only ever driven Honda’s and they’ve never failed me. 💁🏽‍♀️💙

Look I'm gonna tell you like I told my 16 Year old daughter it's all common sense and when you do big jobs like a head gasket what you take out lay it out on cardboard and lable it and you can put it back together if you don't lose anything lable things and take pictures if need be I been mechanicing for 20+ years and i still take pictures and lable things makes life easier and no mistakes

Jim would this cause a no heat situation if thermostat is always open?

Thanks Jim I literally just finish replacing the thermostat. Unfortunately no change. The car does heat up once it’s driven for about 10 minutes but as soon as you go back to idle it turns lukewarm again at best. Inlet hose is hot but outlet hose is not near as warm, the valve does operate as it should and I even disconnected the inlet pipe from by thermostat and blew through the heater core and fluid came out the outlet just fine. So no blockages. I’m kinda stumped unless this is just the way this car is, since it has such an efficient engine maybe it just takes some time to warm up?

If my civic is leaking coolant near the driver side of the motor, what is the most likely cause?

could be a cracked block or head gasket. I'm leaning towards cracked block. Could be a hairline crack somewhere that will be a pain in ass to find unless you use some leak dye in collant to find out where it might be. If that's the case, the motor is junk. Cant be welding onto an aluminum motor. Could maybe slow to down with a head gasket sealer, but ultimately that's a bandaid at best.

What does it mean when the top hose is hot and the bottom hose is cool?

Is it really necessary to burp the coolant after?
@dbzownz12345
@dbzownz12345 4 ай бұрын
Yes, I would because that runs into the system. If the car is overheating, I'd espiecally do it then. I wouldnt put more than 20minutes into burping the system with the heat on full blast and car running. Make sure the fans turn over as well cause that could be cause for overheating engine. If that's your situation. Worse case is, head gasket. Which, these motors are known for blowing. Get job done & you'll be good for another 100k+ miles unless the motor develops a crack then its junk.

Is it common that an aftermarket thermostat is smaller than OEM?
