That cruise control switch is just dirty. Get some CSC electrical contact cleaner and spray heavily around the edges of that cruise control button and push that cruise button several times. I absolutely believe that will correct the problem. I had a 2005 Gl1800 and that was a yearly issue. My brother in law took that Goldwing when I purchased my 2018 DCT Tourer 5 years ago. He’s sprayed that button a couple times since, but cruise is still working as it should. You can thank me later. That is a beautiful and super clean Goldwing. Congratulations on finding it. Oh, by the way, that cruise control button was a very common issue across all these wings and 99.9% of the time, the contact cleaner works.

You’re more than welcome… I am a little jealous of that wing. It’s very clean and the yellow just pops. It is rare to come across a 5th generation that is that well kept and very low miles. The 5th generation is absolutely the motorcycle that holds the road when touring. High winds and you still hold your lane position. I live in Lubbock Texas where high winds are very frequent. I’ve had both the 2005 and now the 2018 DCT. The DCT gets blown all over the lane in high winds. My 5th generation absolutely was the beast in any wind. That’s what I miss the most. I hope you have many enjoyable trips and many smiles along the way. I’m a Goldwing nut and been riding Goldwing since my first purchase of a new 1100 in 1981. The 5th generation and the 6th generation are two very different bikes. I would love to have both as they are so different. I’ve rode both across country and your 5th generation is by far the better bike to run those distances. The DCT is a good weekender and around Lubbock. The 5th generation, Well, that’s the bike that absolutely delivers comfort on the very long trips. Sorry to ramble, just excited for you. I’m too damn old to run tech and cameras and do social media crap, but looking forward to following your thoughts as you proceed forward. I subscribed

Thank you back road, I did what you said about those switches, and they work now. I left the cruise control switch in the ON position. Is that OK ?. People like you should post videos on KZbin, too help people like me. My videos are really bad. I will be 61 soon, so it's never too late to put videos up. Thank again .

By the way, you can leave that cruise control in forever. I just like to keep using it to keep it working. Whether the switch is in the on or off position really doesn’t matter. It just needs to be engaged to set cruise. You will notice a little drop in speed when you set cruise. Just let it settle in and bump it up with the resume button. Each bump increases speed one mph. Each bump on the decrease button decreases it 1 mph. This Goldwing, taken in consideration, just good maintenance will last you the rest of your days. 4-500,000 miles is very realistic on this wing. That’s the truth, a half a million miles.

What you have is what you wanted! Nice bike. Very low mileage for that year. You may want to do some basic maintainence, since it has obviously been sitting for a while (fluids, tires and brakes). On the radio, hold the Audio button down for a few seconds and the radio should turn off. Taping it switches it from the speakers to the headphones. I thought mine didn't work when I first got mine until I figured it out. I also agree with the other person on spraying the cruise button and other buttons with electrical cleaner. Finally, if the "S" light is on the bike won't start unless it is in neutral. It is for the kick stand; excellent safety feature. Ride safe

I will take it to sutters and have them look it over. The dealership put new tires and they did a oil change. Thanks for your advice, specially on the radio.

The audio button is the switch between the headset and the speakers speakers. It will also turn the radio completely off if you push it and hold it in.

Canada These 5th generation GW’s are outstanding bikes. Biggest problem is the mediocre front suspension. These best thing you can do for comfort…safety and excellent handling…are following.. New steering head bearings New seals bushings along with 15 W fork oil New aftermarket springs Disable the ADV. with all the above not needed anymore. These upgrades puts the big girl in a league of her own.
