Review of my 2002 Honda Shadow 1100c3 motorcycle after adding new jets (and shims) to the carburetor from a carb kit I purchased online. I show what my bike looks like, how it sounds, and things I might need to fix in the future.

Good video man. You edited the video very good and I can hear the difference in sounds. As I am in the market for a similar bike, this video has helped me and giving me information.

Thanks! Glad it helped! I have to say that I really like the way the Vance & Hines pipes sound on a big V-twin.

Another thing to check is your carb diaphragms. They can get pinched and put a cut in them. Look at them closely. Or they could just be old and cracked... Also. Buy factory diaphragms if you need them. The aftermarket ones can be sketchy...

Sounds great. Running good. I had a 2005 I think 1100 Sabre with carburetor.

Starving for gas, that's the serge in power. Try, another shim on the needles. Starter button needs taken apart and cleaned.

Been riding my VT1100C since 2011...'04 Shadow Spirit. Great runabout. Mine seems to be running rich lately. May try Seafoam on it.

Thanks, it's definitely a great bike to own. Hmm... it only just started running rich? I've heard of bikes running rich when it's warm in the summertime, but if you've never had a problem until now, maybe the air filter needs to be cleaned/replaced? The Sea Foam could help clean your intake/exhaust valves, so that might be worth a shot!

Do you have a link to the carb kit? I am having some of the same issues

It appears that the exact kit I bought is no longer available on Amazon, unfortunately. I did some looking (copied/pasted the product name into Google) and found what appears to be the same kit offered on Bonanza. Just double check the jet sizes (should be 45 and 185, if I recall correctly). www.bonanza.com/listings/Jet-Kit-Honda-VT1100C-Shadow-1997-2003-Stage-3/722076064?goog_pla=1&gpid=319078017589&keyword=&goog_pla=1&pos=&ad_type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImPCL2v7B7QIVydXACh2V7QGzEAQYBiABEgIqWPD_BwE

The place I bought from on Amazon no longer sells them, unfortunately. There are similar kits there, but they are much more expensive. The kit is called "Jet Kit Honda VT1100C Shadow 1997-2003 Stage 3." Here's a link to what appears to be the exact kit I bought (just from a different site): www.ebay.com/itm/331664269979

@@louisvilaros9066 That would definitely be fun! I actually just retuned my bike (fixing a stupid mistake I made previously), so now it's running 100% at all speeds. No more power surging and less need for choke.

It’s called take it to a real person that know how to work on motorcycle
@ShadowFlyer
@ShadowFlyer 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely should if it's a serious issue that is beyond your skill level or if working on the motorcycle would cause it to be unsafe to ride. However, I do encourage those who have the patience, desire, and a little risk management to take the time to try fixing things yourself. I, personally, have a mechanic who supervises some of the more serious repairs and can coach me through some harder parts. It's not for everyone, but learning how it all works and how to fix things yourself can be a really rewarding experience for those interested.

@@ShadowFlyer it sounds wonderful until they try it and can’t find that screw they drop
@ShadowFlyer
@ShadowFlyer 3 жыл бұрын
@@notoriouscowboy9773 Hahaha, always a classic. Who doesn't like playing a little game of "Find the missing screw" or "Where did this part go again?"? It happens to everyone at some point, but especially those trying something new should be extra careful to keep their parts organized. A magnet wand can works wonders, but we need to know our limits and be willing to admit when we're in over our heads and need professional help.
