I want to become a saab owner. What I should do?
@drewzero14 ай бұрын
@@BradKalkhoff First some research and a bit of soul-searching. Know the model(s) you want and their particular quirks, they all have some weak points to watch out for. Look into parts availability, budget time and money for repairs and plan accordingly. I may be a bit jaded; I've had to let my '83 sit in the garage far too long because of lack of time and energy to work on it and difficulty to find replacement parts. Newer SAABs like this 9-3 might be easier to service but have different issues like the dot matrix display failing.

i think Doug Demuro just reviewed a very similar car to this , just a couple days ago !!! Edit : He did , only difference was that Doug reviewed a convertible
@damilolaakanni4 ай бұрын
I remember him saying that the convertible was the most common body style for some reason. Hence the "RARE VIG" number plate on this one (the one in this video).

Nice, I've had a SAAB 900 for several years and sometimes thought about crossing over to a 740 or XC70. I love SAABs to death but they didn't make many wagons, at least not until the GM years and those beautiful 9-5s. (There was also the classic 95 but good luck finding one around here!)

@joelrichards49654 ай бұрын
That brace is necessary, I had similar one on mine. This is because it was built when GM owned Saab and GM, in a cost-cutting measure, did some parts-bin engineering and used steering parts from a Cavalier.

Nice to see one of these. Saabs had a unique style and a lot of driver-focused engineering. Every car needs something like Night Panel. Saabs don't get enough love. They're an acquired taste but they're a car for people who know cars. I wish Saab had survived. Saab needed GM's cash and it prolonged the inevitable. If Saab had survived as an independent brand it would probably be like Polestar, making quirky EVs and maybe a moderately spicy ICE 9-3.

Great review, but a correction as to the looks - the external bodywork was basically shared with the 9-3 AERO model, as was the interior, seats etc. The only real difference apart from a few very minor details between the Viggen and the AERO was the power output (and you could also get an AERO as an Auto).
@NA-en7kz2 ай бұрын
The exterior trim and seats are different from the Aero models. You can swap them around, but you wouldn't mistake an Aero for a Viggen.

I wonder why they changed the name of their performance models from 'Viggen' to 'Aero'. Was anything wrong with the name, or they just felt it needed to be changed?
@eduardofromwiisportsresort96364 ай бұрын
Well they had used aero beforehand, I think its just because the viggen was more limited production and had a little more done to it than the aeros that had come after it. Also I like to think it was because it was really Saab's last car before they were more heavily influenced by gm and they wanted it to be a little more special (Viggen debuted in 1999 and GM completely bought out Saab in 2000).
@anthonykiedis17654 ай бұрын
Think of the Aero as a WRX and the Viggen as an STI. The Viggen is more limited production, manual only, etc.
