I can not thank you enough for putting this video together. I tried to do it how other videos showed without removing the intake manifold. I spent over 2 hours trying to remove the starter. I finally gave in and followed your steps to take everything off and it was so much easier and worth the time to do it. I just want to thank you again so much for showing each step as clearly as you could and also explaining all kinds of stuff I would have missed. Especially that little clip that holds the manifold on I was losing my mind until I kept rewatching how you did it and with your explanation. THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME SO MUCH MONEY AND FRUSTRATION!

Man, what an awesome, 👌 top-notch video. Thanks for taking the time to move things around so that we all could see it. To you sir, I tip my hat... . I didn't use the wd 40 as somebody mentioned to me that it could break down the rubber. I cried because things didn't slide on so easily😢. Thanks again!!😂

Really helpful video. Just two tips for others attempting this job: 1) The little clip referenced at (12:23) that is so difficult to remove, I wasted no time and just snipped the plastic tabs off to remove clip and on re-install I just used a new tie-wrap. 2) To remove the inner starter mounting bolt (13:13) there are a lot of different adapters used making difficult to remove bolt. Instead, I just used one 3/8 drive 14mm deep socket with my 3/8 drive socket wrench. Fit right in there and bolt came out easy. Thank you for making this video, it's the best one on KZbin for doing this procedure. Great job!!

This brings back memories. I can't remember fully how I did mine, but I don't think I removed the throttle body and other items. I was able to leave the manifold connected to some items IIRC, rocked it forward out of the way "enough" and easily removed that annoying black canister on the back side. That gave me enough room to remove the starter. I removed and replaced the main wire with the starter not mounted due to the clearance issues with that black pipe / tube. Then installed the starter with the wire connected. Can't remember what year I did that, but the '07 is still kicking with it now.

Excellent video. I attempted the repair today and this video was instrumental in the repair. All in it was $270 in parts. Bought the duralast starter from Autozone with limited warranty and the manifold gasket. I didn’t realize I might also need the throttle body mounting gasket too but reassembled anyway and appears to be fine. I ordered one and will replace when I get it. At any rate, started right up and based on the comments, I think I saved a solid $300+ bucks! Thanks for taking the time to post your video! 👍

Good video and explanation. You do not have to remove the throttle body, simply removing the snorkel between the air box and throttle body opens up space. Then remove the bolts and nuts including the bottom bracket bolt, vacuum lines including the one inside the plenum lower left and just pull the entire manifold plenum and throttle body towards you and shift upwards and angle it to the right, hold it there with a bungee, now you have all the space you need to remove those two difficult bolts off the starter. I used 1/2" ratchet and deep sockets. Replace manifold gasket with new and in your case should replace throttle body gasket as well to prevent any air leaks.

The only video that shows the different 2006, 2007 electric throttle removal step and other minor things. Other videos shows 2003-2005 that has a cable throttle. This is the only video I found that helped me change the starter for my 2007 4 cyl. Accord with no guessing and no extra unnecessary work.

Great video! Some advice for others, the upper bolt is easier to get too if you take the wires off first, also make sure you clean the threads of the lower bolt with some brake cleaner after you remove the bolt. The hole goes straight through and out the otherside and any debris in there will strip part of the bolt and threads. You wont know it until the next time. If there is a next time ;-) I have an 07 and seeing the comments it looks like the 07 is notorious for starter failure. Looks like 03-08 doesnt fair better either. These starters fail in such a weird way, not like other cars, you'll think its other things before you suspect the starter, its annoying. Easiest diagnosis is to check the amp draw on the cable

It's no wonder they fail they are buried under the intake there's a lot of heat trapped causing the starter to fail prematurely over time

Bought the same part today for the same reasons. That bottom bolt holding the starter felt like it wouldn't budge until I took out my breaker bar. Even with that it was tough. Stupid tight. I didn't cut anything like you did. If you push the o-ring onto the bolt it will fit in. It's tight but fits. When you start screwing in the screw it falls into position even more.

FYI, It is better to use silcone grease to slip that RUBBER HOSE on to the fitting(32:12). Also on any rubber "O" rings as well. WD -40 works but it is a petroleum product that is not generally compatible with rubber. However, WD-40 Company claims no problem.

Fabri Tin you can always call the dealership for the radio code. As for the memory saver, it basically uses the memory saver battery instead of your 12V so that you don’t lose your radio station and clock.

if the car is having starting issues(engine cranks slowly, doesn't start on first attempt, sometimes second attempt but then starts afterwards) .. and you suspect it's the starter but then you charge the battery for a while and then it cranks BETTER and more stable, faster and the car starts as well .. does this mean it wasn't the starter but probably the battery ? I'm praying it's the battery lol
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 2 жыл бұрын
If it cranks up strong after the battery replacement, then it’s most likely a weak battery. My starter was going bad and I cranked it and it was struggling to turn, you can kinda feel it’s the starter and not a battery issue too if you start cranking and it slowly cranks but you know the battery is good. Battery usually last 4 years or so. If the car doesn’t even crank once ignition on, then it’s the battery. Starter usually gives an indication of a crank but doesn’t turn.

What, no cursing? Just kidding. Well made video. Now let's see you do a CRV with the same motor. A little bit tougher. Not too bad though. Thanks for the video.

YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE THROTTLE BODY
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 5 жыл бұрын
pedro rodriguez we took the throttle body out so we don’t have to remove the coolant lines going into it. You can do either or but removing the throttle body gave us more room to maneuver the intake manifold out of the way of the wire harness.

No need to disconnect the intake and throttle body, just loosen the wiring bracket above the throttle body/intake and loosen all wiring clamps, remove the radiator reservoir and and unbolt the intake and simply work from the left side of the intake to replace the starter trust me i just got done doing mine this way there is no need to even play around with the intake or throttle at all.

Thanks! We just wanted to get every shot in view so the viewers can see. It may be easier that way but most people can’t see if there’s parts in the way such as the intake and it would be hard for us to get a closer shot at the starter since it’s dark and small cramp room in there. Thanks for letting me know 👍🏼

@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 5 жыл бұрын
trankt54155 it was 270.79$ with a 136$ core charge. So total after that would be 134$ or so. I bought it on rockauto.

@@NutzAboutBolts Did you have any problem returning the core to get your core deposit back? You are right, Denso makes reliable parts. Your method for replacing the starter WITHOUT detaching the coolant lines is great and that saves a lot of time and mess. I appreciate your doing this video and it has been very helpful. I have a Honda Accord EX 2004 I4 that is still going strong at 110k. Got it in 2003. Your car looks really clean. How much mileage does it have? Thanks again buddy.
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 5 жыл бұрын
trankt54155 no, there want any issues on the core returns, they do charge a 6$ shipping fee though. I bought the car brand new in 2006, so I’m the original owner and it’s clean because we did an engine bay wash. It has its dust here and there, but no fluid leaks anywhere or mechanical problems. It’s at 148k miles I believe, still running strong.

@trankt54155 5 жыл бұрын
@@NutzAboutBolts Thanks for replying. So your starter gave out at around 148k miles? What I do with my car before I crank the starter I turn the ignition just enough that I could hear the gasoline pump going and then I crank the starter and the engine ignites only after one starter crank. Hopefully by doing that it would prolong the life of the starter...What do you think?
@NutzAboutBolts
@NutzAboutBolts 5 жыл бұрын
trankt54155 I’ve never heard of that, but if it works for you then do you. All parts tend to break down over time, so replacing them is normal. Same with suspensions and fuel pumps etc etc...
