This is very good video. Thank you!. I used this to replace the starter on a 2006 3.0L. I struggled hard to get the bolts lose to get the battery tray out. Not so much on the starter. While at it, I also replaced the positive battery terminal and the negative battery terminal. BTW the torque on the lower bolt is 47 lbs-ft, on the top bolt is 33 lbs-ft and on the positive terminal bolt on the starter is 7 lbs-ft Thanks again for the nice and detailed video.

Good stuff Barry 👍 I'm glad you mentioned to remove the hardest bolt/nut first and why. Not many people would realize that.

As others have already said, this is a very good instruction set! I finished the job in a little more than an hour--then did it again even faster because the "brand new" starter I bought wasn't working. The hardest part of the whole job was getting lower-back battery tray bolt loosened. I'm not sure I needed the 1/2" breaker bar a bought, but it made getting the first 1/4 turn of those bolts coming off very easy. And now I have a cool, long 1/2" breaker bar that I don't feel guilty about purchasing since I saved so much money doing the job myself. Again, great video!

Thank you so much! got my 2003 Honda Accord going again after it sat unused for too long during the pandemic. Appreciate that you called out all the bolt size saved me so much time guessing and I started with the long HFT breaking bar rather than working my way up to it.

Pro tip for any of your viewers, if you have a starter doing this often times you can free up the starter by hammering on it. Take a hammer and beat the snot out of the starter, it will usually free it up long enough to get you home or to the garage for a proper repair.

Great job. Clear and helpful description of each task. I had my starter stop working after getting gas. I tapped on started no start. I tapped again with rubber hammer, then rocked car a bit and it started. It seems like it may be wiring or selonoid connection to just stop working like that. No noise like your starter when trying to start. It made a click one time, then no sound while trying to start. Just seems like an electrical issue more than a frozen starter. Starters start around $130 rebuilt/$171 or higher new. Then one hour for a mech, add $90-100. Very expensive for a starter replacement. I may save the $95 my mech wants and do it myself? Thanks for your experience.

I recommend using an OBD saver connected to a jump pack from the OBD 2 port. Will avoid loosing presets and having to go through the Honda BS with the radio security code. Like anyone is going to steal a Honda stock radio anyway. Thanks Honda for being a PITA.

You can leave the battery on if you have extender wires on hand. Besides, it's just the starter, i've done it before and it had no ill affect on anything. Never understood why it's so damn difficult for manufacturers to have a secondary battery that gets used solely to maintain presets and information. Old digital clock had them, hand held radios had them, it's not like it's an alien thinking method.
