Thanks for posting this. I have the exact same compressor issue and will be doing the same job myself. After doing the compressor r&r on my 2001 Audi TT (two days of work, worth it) this should be much much easier.

Thanks man can I ask if you disconnected the hoses and everything from the bottom too....my E86 has 81k and it's making a little whine and seems like it's not cooling as well all of a sudden also how many miles did you get out of yours and did it fix the issue

From memory, the ac lines are disconnected from up top. This one had 53k miles. Make sure you check your pullies for the whine and have someone double check your AC before you take it out. Good luck!

Hello! Having the "warm air" issue - Pressure ~7bar in system seems ok, coolant gas was refilled to full, fan and belt are moving though. Any way to check whether compressor is working without any special equipment (garage equipment)? Garage which filled to coolant gas wants to change the compressor and dryer, for around 800-1000 bucks. Thx in advance

You would need a scanner to check the pressure and if the compressor is in ON state.

Did this fix the issue? My Z4 just blows hot air right now. I thought maybe it was low on freon so I put some gauges on it and it appeared to do the exact same thing you described. Unplugging and re-plugging in the pressure switch cause the compressor to work for a couple seconds then drop off.
