@Veikra I agree,, The Crown Vic has been such a great car, this video is actually on my personal car, I drive this car 500 miles per week, and she never lets me down. It's got about 160k Miles on it, but I would not hesitate to drive it across country. Ford made a mistake when deciding to kill their most dependable and durable vehicle.

Great Video Bro, I was Told recently that Ford Axed the Vic because it wouldn't meet federal Rollover Standards for Model year 2013, Seems like an excuse to Me though, I Have an 08 with Less than 100 K on it, Best Car I have ever owned, Ford did make a Huge Mistake by not Selling these anymore.

I did this on my 2003 Lincoln Town Car, but had a problem getting the old links out (I had to cut it out with a Sawsall) and reinstalling because the sway bar was under tension and in the wrong position to insert both ends of the links since I only had one wheel at a time jacked up.I ended up moving the jack to under the shock absorber to lift there until the sway bar was in the right place to insert the link's threaded rods in both places.

We do have a few on this car, and there will likely be more,, it is my personal car :)

My links have been an absolute dick to remove...a challenge for hand tools.
@APDTY11 жыл бұрын
That is actually pretty normal to happen with any brand. Luckily they put that hex head on the end of the stud to hold the shaft from spinning while you loosen/tighten it.
@APDTY11 жыл бұрын
It's very similar, the suspension setup on the 2000 is different than the 2003, but the same underlying process shown in this video can be used on the 2000.

Nothing about these cars were extremely complicated to keep on the road, which is why I suspect Ford stopped producing them, and GM stopped making the bubble caprice in '96.... you can't sell new cars if the old ones last a long time.

Will this cause steering wheel to shake and be rough over bumps ?
@NodakSavage Жыл бұрын
mine tends to pull the wheel one way when I go over those speed bumps real slow in parking lots. Pretty sure my end links are shot and that's whats causing it.

I was really hoping for some torque specs on the brake caliper and the end links. I have a tendency to over tighten stuff and I know there has got to be a spec in foot lbs or something

Torque specs for any of this would have been cool.

@@jasonstrout4502 for what part, the end links or calipers?
@evanwalters632 жыл бұрын
Totally unhelpful to me. My top upper 15 mm bolt has the stud rotating and the other end is a ball joint rotating inside a rubber boot. It tore the boot as it rotated. So how did you unscrew it without the whole thing rotating? The suspense is killing me. Edit: In addition you said when tightening it you held the back with a 18 mm. Where? There's nothing there but a rubber boot. Did you clamp down on the boot and hold the bolt inside still through the rubber? If so how did you do that without tearing the boot?
@Yophillips3272 Жыл бұрын
You can just use vise grips to hold it to keep the stud from spinning if the hex stud isn't enough. If all else fails just cut them off.

I replaced the front struts on my '05 Mercury Grand Marquis, just like that one, it wasn't too bad, except I had to take the sway bar out so the strut can pivot outwards towards me.

Is this type of play, something I might not notice if I was just pushing on the sway bar by hand?

Great video! Have a 2001 Crown Vic and 'floats' all over the place...steering feels very loose and makes terrible creaking noises, that starts every Spring. More than one problem. Going to have steering linkage tightened and loosen and tighten support bar, for starters. Also want to get all bushings sprayed with suspension grease! Think that will help. It's humiliating driving around making all that racket!

On my Moog replacement links, the locking nut barely hand tightens. I used an impact tool and the nut stripped the threads in the middle section. Now the link is a little loose. Is there a trick to properly tighten the nuts?
@APDTY6 жыл бұрын
GrobiThe2nd yes we can help, the top of the sway bar link is a hex head and you can use a wrench on the nut and a socket on the sway bar link or vise Versa, whichever allows your tools the best access, I can tell you the problem is not the moog brand, we have used MOOG for over 20 years and they are really some of the best quality parts available

I installed one on a grand marquis, but the top stud on the new and old links wanted to rotate when tightening and loosening it. Figure it was just the brand?

ok ihave a question iwas just with my bro in his 06 police and iwas behind the driver and whenever he made a turn it seemed like the car body was floating and moving opposite of the turn what could this be ihave checkkd under it yet
@brianodom7978 жыл бұрын
+Raul Pastor Yes, sounds like excessive body roll. Body roll is controlled by the sway bar, I would check the links to make sure their still attached
