To flush the torque converter out you would have to do a transmission fluid flush on the car. This Toyota Vibe has over 300,000 miles on it, so we felt more comfortable just changing the transmission filter and refilling with transmission fluid. Thanks for checking out or channel. Yes it is the original transmission. The transmission filter was changed every 30,000-40,000 miles. This Pontiac Vibe has over 300,000 miles on it and is still going strong. This is why it is important to change the transmission filter at the recommended service intervals.

This would only apply to an automatic transmission.

You may want to buy some fluid right from the parts counter at GM. They can hook you up with the OE transmission fluid for it. Hope this helps you out.

We just snugged the bolts up by hand. The torque specs are probably online.

@@HomeownerRepair I did mine with filter 90inxlb; pan 50inxlb. Rubber gasket glued to pan with red silicone before reinstating. And atf was dexron-VI.

You are putting in too much fluid. The factory fill is only 3.3 quarts for this model and that is dry. There is still a lot of fluid left in the transmission and cooler after a drain. I you put in 4 quarts, it must be overfilled.

The extra fluid will come out of the fill hole in the transmission pan. When it stops coming out it is up to the proper level.
