I still have nightmares about troubleshooting that sweet for it's time engine. The cooking, the cooling, the line replacements, the bearing swaps, the dogbone, the pulleys, the charger oil kits, the fan tunes, the consumption, the smell of 4 speed auto clutches.....aaaahhh smells like 2005 😆

Absolutely MINT. I cloned a 99 GS ,added everything,wheels, floor mats, grill, spoiler, dash emblem, headrest applique, and a ZZP PLOG and downpipe, but not the exhaust tips. Drove the wheels off, and sold it at 200K miles for a 2004 Ultra. Guy that bought it still drives it.👍🏁

The 3800 series was a very reliable engine and well suited to be boosted by the supercharger. Nice to see an 03' in such pristine condition.

Ive got to add an edit... very reliable "when maintained meticulously"

@@Reyd_01 Honestly I beg to differ. Eventually itll break enough to throw a check engine light for a few codes, but itll run at 80% for eternity at that point

@@bigmike8847 i'll meet in the middle...ive had a gtp, roomie had a gtp and then a Regal gs...they go to 100k+ sure, but every one of them has made you learn it to keep it out of the shop.

My first car was the 1999 SLP regal GSX stage 3 development car. I have very close family members in SLP/SVE family. Thank you so much for this. The nostalgia is hitting hard on this one.

That's AWESOME one of these was your first car! Do you still own it? And do you still have family in that line of business? I heard SLP recently sold to Roush performance. I'm glad the video brought back some memories 😁

There was no 1999 GSX produced it just a GS with SLP mods put on later...2003 was the only year a true GSX was produced. I worked at a Buick dealership parts department for 5 years and we had one in the showroom in 2003 the only year and when I left it was sitting in the back lot, it didn't sell when I was there

Never really my cup of tea, so many front drivers back then but worth watching because of nostalgia. Remember them well, has some nuts, sounds good with exhaust and blower whine. Only ever saw a few and surely kind of rare. Very clean and low mileage if accurate. Cool it was kept alive, lots of cars could have survived if taken care of properly by more people. It does sound like it needs a bearing somewhere tho. Pretty consistent sound especially at higher speeds. Doubt it's a big deal but the car is worth the repair to make it right for another twenty years with a fairly reliable engine

I'm so glad this brought back some memories! Yep, the mileage is accurate and the car certainly shows it. This is definitely a pristine example and a great car. Thanks for watching!

I really like the W bodies but that one is a bit too subtle for me even with SLP's add-ons. I had a 99 Grand Prix GTP coupe. Same car, same engine but Pontiac made it more sporty, whereas Buick's reputation was not for sportiness.
@JW_Reviews2 жыл бұрын
Good point! It definitely has a more understated look, but that's probably for the best since it's a Buick. I would have liked it if they would have added some more exterior changes such as racing stripes just like the original GSX had. Thanks for watching!
@Reyd_012 жыл бұрын
The gtp had tighter suspension and more cooling issues with the kidney grille. The Regal gs had less cooling issues but spongey suspension. Pick ur sleeper I guess....

300000-400000 mile lifespan engine and 30-32 mpg's and 240 something horsepower.....the 3800 series II and series III were excellent, reliable and efficient powerplants for the time. They take a beating very well.

It wasnt bad in retrospect, all of the applied cars are fun af..... they just DEMANDED you take care of it at every recommended interval or leak or underperform. To this day Id take a 120k '06 with a constant paper trail over some brands '15+ with 45k. "They dont make em like they used to" has been more true 2016+ than ever before... Ill never buy a "covid car" 2020-2022
