Its titled head gasket remove, he did just that. The rest is just the reverse. I have removed all this before to replace the oil cooler( yes, there is an oil cooler that's underneath the area where he put the red rag..crazy huh?) . It's good for me to get refreshed on the procedure. Nicely informed. I just wasn't sure I would have to remove all the same stuff to get to the valve cover....oh boy

Your not suppose to use rtv on rubber gaskets. Using rtv will cause leaks. You can use very small dabs of rtv to help hold the gasket in place (no more than 6 the 4 corners and 2 in the middle) when putting valve cover back on

One thing I am having trouble with. The plate the ECM is bolted to. I see the 2 bolts attaching it to the intake manifold, but what do you have to do to disconnect it from the other side above the intake manifold? ------------------------ Okay, since then, I finally figured it out. Looking at the motor from the front, on the left hand side, passenger, down below is a pump. Looks like it is for the heater water. I disconnected the electrical connector, removed the two e type bolts, pushed it up and away, and barely the two other bolts holding the ECM plate are accessible. I got the left hand valve cover off, and was surprised to find that the cover is made of plastic, and that the seals, what was left of them, were hard as a rock. I got them out and will clean the cover tomorrow. One thing left. How do I get the o rings that seal the cam cover bolts out? They are hard as a rock too. My gasket kit includes rubber o rings which appear to be the right size. But, I am afraid to damage the plastic cover attempting to remove them. Any ideas?
