The reason you had to use a pipe wrench is because the key must be turned to the acc position before you depress the depressed plastic button on the side of the cylinder. If the key wont turn to this position use a hammer to bash a screwdriver into the keyhole and then turn the ignition to the acc position. Hope this helps.

had my durango broken into and got the ignition jabbed to hell with a screw driver... luckily the immobilizer which is that card looking thing above the ignition kept the thieves from going anywhere... gonna have a hell of a time fixing it

Josh Petty Hey ! I went ordered cylinder from eBay that came with keys. Then I took keys to Locksmith n he programmed chip that I had from broken key to new keys.. cost me about $80.00 from Locksmith.. good luck !!👍

im here because i want to know about that black square thing that is attach to the ignition key that you said for the car's alarm. do you think that square card or box got something to do with the keyless entry fob? i have 3 keyless entry remote and all stopped working at the same time. im thinking it is that receiver that is attach to your ignition. my car is 2003 dodge durango SLT

That is the receiver, I guess u could say, that communicates with the fob. Locksmith I went to programmed my new keys to ignition .. cost me $60.00

@@texascoastwandererkayakfis672 so you went to their office to program your key? i called them 2 weeks ago and they want $100 to program me a new fob, just the unlock/lock/ panic fob. the technician was in my my driveway for 45 minutes and could not program a new fob for me. im thinking now maybe it is that receiver, i did not know that it is located at the ignition and probably needs to be replace.

Put some crazy glue on the tip /end of the key handle stick it back in the ignition wait til it dries and the whole key will come out..done this before it worked for me....

Mulan Dorsey yes it does. Suggestion: take ur blue title to dealership maker of ur vehicle with ur DL.. they can order u a new FOB.. hopefully around $200 .. good luck !

Hey !! U just gotta pull out like heck with that pipe wrench.. 😬.. Some wiggling around with it....there r some grooves inside that can make it stubborn..but wiggle it out with s9me slight force. My new ignition switch also came with a bitty tube of grease to slide new one in and went it great!! Good luck ! Let me know how u do ..
