Peak NASCAR I haven't watched this race since 2003 when I was 17. NASCAR on FOX was unbelievable back then.

They did something similar in 2001. Benny Parsons was in the Hollywood Hotel to promote NASCAR on NBC's debut.

I was at this race and it was awesome start to finish. Joe Satriani wailing out the national anthem was sooo USA, then the steath fighter was cool. But those F-16s (or 18s?) were BADASS!! They roared so loud right over us I flinched and spilled some of my margarita. I told my friend "I don't know if the race will be as awesome as that." But it was. I sat along the esses (between turn 7 and 10) and I swear over the roar of those V-8s you could hear the tires squealing biting the asphalt as the cars swung right and left at 140mph. The 3 cars spinning like synchronized swimmers (in turn 7). Lots of other calamity as cars banged into each other thru ther day, In the end a great nose to tail chase for 2 or 3 laps. I'm so glad to see this and relive it. Thanks Dominic!

Joe did a lot of instrumental music for EA Sports' NASCAR 06 (the 2005 season). He also did the track (I forget the name of it) CBS used for their 1993 Michigan 400 starting lineup.

I don't know why they got rid of Winston as a sponsor. I don't know if nascar wanted to change it's sponsor or if it was because of cigarette advertising becoming illegal
@Pifmeister3 жыл бұрын
Not only it was because of the ban of cigarette advertising, and not only it was also because Winston was exploring its options on wanting to get out of their contract early... it was mainly because NASCAR was starting to finally evolve, going from a regional, to a national mainstream sport. Its fanbase was starting to grow more and more, which is why from within 1997 to 2003, we were seeing them racing on new tracks throughout the country, but most importantly, the fanbase of women, and even children, were starting to get popular.

Mike Joy comments on Ron Fellows' endurance racing experience, but Ron was one of the finest racers in the 90s as a Trans-Am star, winning 20 races that were mostly 100-125 miles. However, Ron's patience, savvy, and smooth style are very well suited for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. By the way, Ron was 3rd in class one week earlier at Le Mans, with longtime co-driver Johnny O'Connell (who was a second faster than him; inside joke), along with Indy Lights standout and IndyCar starter Franck Fréon.

Shoulda coulda woulda but everyone know Ron Fellows should have won this race. 2 incidents of bad luck. Mayfield, that fucking goof, taking him out, 2nd Steve Miel Pitting him after the leaders pit when there was nutting to gain, only to lose if a yellow came out, and what do u know....would have changed Nascar, and his path. The last many years they go out of their way to decrease competition. When they should invite it, like welcoming the best world wide on the road races. Dont know why Montoya and Ambrose dont get offered a ride for those races.
