I kind of wish you can explain or show the picture of what you're bad fuel trim was before you showed your good fuel trim I'm just trying to figure out if my fuel trims any good and I really can't read it I don't understand what's good and what's bad or how to actually read it I'm also using that app

Your fuel trims are F/T 1x1 for bank 1, and F/T 2x1 for bank 2, if you have a V6 or V8, otherwise you only have bank 1. "Ideally" fuel trim numbers should be zero, but real world they will vary a bit, plus or minus. The healthier the engine the closer to zero it should be. A worn tired old engine will typically vary more. Generally if it's mostly single digit you aren't far off. As you near 10 +/- you are farther away from ideal. You will see in my video that numbers remain within about 5 +/- most of the time. Most times the ECM will need to correct a fuel shortage, as in a weak fuel pump as in my case, or it could be a clogged injector or a very dirty fuel filter. In that case you will see a high plus reading as the ECM is adding more fuel. When this fuel shortage worsens the O2 reading under full throttle will drop and not stay maxed out, this indicates a weak fuel delivery, pump or filter. In this video when I went full throttle the O2 readings remain maxed.

@@richardmathews8250 how do I set this up on my device so I can read it better

@@isrealperez9069 The basic Torque app is very limited in what it can do, it is mainly to test that your device will work with it. You need the paid, or Pro version to get all the bells and whistles. Here is a video on the Torque kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4ndpmR9btytprM

@@richardmathews8250 I have the paid app I just need to know how to set it up I have p0420 code on my car it shows thier is 3 different fuel trim for b1s1 I was looking at one that show - 100 and voltage b1s1 good b1s2 sometimes it almost looks the same I need to what is causing am playing buying new cats
@richardmathews82504 жыл бұрын
@@isrealperez9069 B1S1 is the O2 sensor before the cat on bank 1. B1S2 is the O2 sensor after the cat on bank 1. The sensor before the cat sends information on oxygen content so the PCM can adjust mixture. This is confirmed visually by observing fuel trims and O2 voltage (FT & O2 voltage as seen in my video). They should display as seen in my video. Fuel trims do not apply to the sensor after the cat. The sensor after the cat is there only to confirm compliance, or effectiveness of the cat's operation. The P0420 code is set when the PCM sees little variation in O2 voltage of the post cat sensor. This can be observed visually in a graph display or numeric variation. 95% of the time the cat is too slow to respond to changes in oxygen content as a result of age. To confirm catalytic efficiency an infared temp reading can be taken at the cat's inlet and outlet. A healthy cat should have at least a 100º F increase in temp as the exhaust passes through. If this is not the case then the cat is just too old and requires replacement. You may wish to search for "o2 sensor extender". Installation of this spacer will, in most cases allow the O2 sensor to give the illusion of proper function.

Nice video. Can you explain what those little red circles mean in the graph? I've searched and searched but can't find anything. Thanks

So sorry for replying so late! Those read circles with the numbers is the peak voltage at that point in the graph.

AWD V8 no worries. Thanks for replying. That's all they are? LOL! Not sure what I was expecting to hear but I kind of figured that's what it was.

good video. what codes were you getting when you had the problem?
@carguyeh8 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the exact codes, but they were a lean code for both banks.
