2003 F350 SuperDuty 6.0 power steering pump replacement and bleed

In this video I am replacing the power steering pump for a 2003 F350 SuperDuty 6.0 Diesel 4x4 dually. Bleeding the air bubbles out of the line proves to be challenging, but this job is a DIY project that anyone can do with very few special tools.

actually a pretty good video - thanks for taking the time to post it up. I have replaced one on my '06. It lasted about 10 years. I am now replacing it again. It had been so long since I did I wanted to see if I had to drain the coolant to gain access by removing that lower radiator hose. That noise is not okay. Also I noticed the fluid appeared to be very dark brown. Old fluid will cause cavitation which will whine and wear too. Thanks again.

There is a metal tab on that tensioner that you can pull on the belt by hand and push that tab in place which will lock the tensioner into place

I was told you’re better off getting a used Motorcraft power steering pump because the parts store ones don’t hold up. This was from someone else’s experience going through many of them under warranty. I picked up a power steering pump off of eBay and I’m sitting here watching your video right before I go to put it on so wish me luck!

they are hedge apples. natural spider/bug repellent. place them in the basement to keep away spiders

Is it alright to just unhook both batteries without a donor/transplant battery or could it hurt you ecu, cpm or whatever you wanna call it?

Thanks for the video. Could you provide and update if you fixed the problem? Did you also replace the hydro boost or did the second pump fix it?

I replaced the hydroboost as well, but I still cannot bleed the air out of the system. For now I still drive it, but it's noisy. I might try to find an original Motorcraft power steering pump to see if that will be easier to bleed.

Pulling a vacuum on the pump will bleed it properly, they make a fitting that has a hose/nipple to hook it to.

could be you need to replace your belt. loose belt can cause whine noise. let us know how you are able to fix, about to replace my power steering pump and want to make sure don't have same issue.

I used a stethoscope yesterday, and I think it's coming from the hydroboost, which makes sense cause it's connected to the firewall and it's so loud inside the cab.

@@robstuckey I pickup up the seal from Napa. They pulled out a box of power steering pump washers and found the right one, not even charging me for it.

Change the high pressure line from hydro boost to pump also. Trust me. Its only $40. You don't want to do this twice 😂😂😂
