Water pump or Fan clutch on the ford 6.0 Powerstroke diesel (Bulletproof used)

On this video I show how I remove and replace the water pump and fan clutch on the 6.0 Powerstroke. I know I show tapping it off with an air hammer. I've been doing these since they came out in 03. I have never had a failure from using the air hammer to tap it loose or tighten it. If done properly the only drawback is the mark it leaves.

Yesterday I went to the junkyard and bought a used bullet proof clutch fan and radiator. The dude told me good luck. Had it taken apart and out in 30 minutes. Needless to say they were impressed. I told them I thank Diesel Tech Ron that he is awesome and God bless his family. Thank you Ron.

Sad to find out Ron passed away last year. I have watched so many of Ron's videos! This video saved me some serious time and agony. I don't have shop air tools, and I could not get the correct size thin wrench for the fan clutch nut, I read online that some guys have used monkey/pipe wrenches, FYI, this method works great!!! If you don't have air tools use a monkey/pipe wrench! The nut I have read hundreds of people struggling with came right off! Don't forget to put threadlock on it when you put it back on. I hope Ron's family knows his videos and tips have helped literally thousands of people work on their trucks and save tons of money! Thanks so much Ron!

I lost my dad in 1997. Even today I'll need an odd bolt or nut and find it an old organizer of his full of such things. He removed bolts, washers and nuts before discarding spent parts. It's kind of neat how even today he helps me. That's how I see Ron. He is not only helping those of us who are making our own truck repairs, but it's cool that he is still able to support his family through the ad revenue from these videos and the Go Fund Me account that is still active. There are many reasons why i subscribed to your channel but one in particular is the fact that i see you use the Milwaukee ratchets. So i thought to myself if it's good enough for Master Ron and good enough to use on diesels, so I bought the 1/4" and I love it, I loved it so much I bought the 3/8". Nice and light, not to mention after 35 years the joints and muscles and after using IR for a couple years these are a long awaited relief. Thanks for the subliminal suggestion. I was wondering your opinion of the ratchets? I've only had mine a few weeks. Great Videos, Thanks for making them.

If you've done any repairs to the 6.0 that required removing the coolant you may just have air in the cooling system. Make sure you turn the heat on and take the cap off the degas bottle to purge any air in the system after you have fill it with coolant. Sometimes it takes several times of replacing and taking off the coolant cap to purge all the air out (you see it bubble in the degas bottle from the bottom where hose attaches). Try this before you spend thousands. Also make sure you don't have any small coolant leaks in the radiator or a leaking or bad water pump. Also make sure the fan clutch is operating properly before making any costly repairs. Replacing the radiator, water pump and fan clutched fixed my problem with the coolant leaking out of the degas cap. I was told I had blown head gasket even though I already have ARP head studs and replaced head gasket when studs were installed. Beware of BOGUS mechanics and repairs shops. ( The infamous Ford Stealer Ship) Coolant kit which includes the water pump and fan clutch are about $300.00 at Auto Zone. Life time warranty Radiator also about $300.00. Life time warranty Total for both was about $600.00 and only took about 6 hrs. Hope this will help someone... Over and out :-)

I have been using the air chisel method myself to remove the fan clutch on diesel and gas engines. Never had a problem until the last one. In a rush I got too close to the pulley with the chisel and damaged it enough that the clutch would not unscrew. I had no other choice but to replace it. So be careful guys.

I show and explain a six inch extension, 15 shallow socket, 15 shallow socket on the bottom. Use a back up wrench, possible 4-5 bolts depending on the year. Disconnect the hose support and lift it as a whole. Don't use a bolt on the top stud, if it's broke start the boots first. What more could I have explained? Or are you kidding because I over did it

I've never driven one long enough to say for sure. There's a company in our town that removes them for access to install a belt driven compressor. Hey Ron was wondering if you could answer a question? I have an 05 F550. Just put in the new water pump from BPD. But I have developed a coolant leak some where above the power steering pump as it is leaking off of it. Doesn't look like Degass bottle or upper hose or Thermostat housing is leaking on top. Any ideas? Its hard to see down there from top of engine with all crap in the way like the air box.
