You gotta take out the tensioner on the 2.7 to do it right. Replace it just in case with the water pump is highly recommend

Yup going over the tensioner on the Delta engine, always will cause the belt to pull the CAM pulley on Bank 1. The trick I do? I put the timing 1/2 tooth in the opposite direction, so when the belt goes to pull, it pulls it into time. Then rotate twice, and it should be spot on. Done my Timing Belt on my Tiburon many many times.

Yes these 2.7 delta engines this is the ONLY WAY to put the belt on HOWEVER what I did with the cams above is zip tie the belt to the cams so they stay tight on the right side.

Hello, I replaced the belt on my car a year ago and I happened to pop off the upper timing cover and the belt is loose on the water pump side. I replaced all of the timing components with OEM parts except for the timing belt, which was a Gates brand belt. Is it normal for the timing belt to have slack on the water pump side? The idler and tensioner sides have good tension, but the water pump side is so loose that I can turn the water pump pulley by hand.

had a car with timing belt once, never go that route again, I check, to make sure the car I am buying has a timing chain
@NoneMechanic1017 жыл бұрын
Many of the car companies are going with timing chain. Timing belt are very difficult to do.
@lar43056 жыл бұрын
They are not hard to do, most cars with chains today have problems, It is much easier to replace a belt then a chain.
@brettconv834 жыл бұрын
Yeah good logic until you have to do timing chains

Honestly the timing belt on the 2.7 is easier to do than spark plugs and valve covers and less time consuming

@NoneMechanic1015 жыл бұрын
That is a decision you have to make. If you are going to fix it yourself remember is going to be a lot of work. If you are going to have someone else do it. They are probably going to charge you over 1,000 dollar.

Hi there. I beleved this is the same motor i have on my tiburon v6 I need to ask when you talking about the part cut off in the video sorry becauae i didnt understood. .. for be clear you take out the tensioner completly from the motor after the fail pf the timimg jump and then put the belt around the pulley and then put back the tensioner or you jist say you commit the error didnt pullout the pin from the adjuster until habe the correct time and then pull put the pin? What of this 2 you do for fox the issue. I didnt ever di this job but i want to tdy for do bymyself i have skills and tools. I didnt want to have this probkem so i see videos and find you and i ear about this happen to this engines. So. Let me.know what you try to say on video im confuse if you talking about pull out completly the tensioner and put the belt and then put back and pull out the pin or just dont pull the pin until habe the correct time ?

@@NoneMechanic101 I was afraid of that lol ok one more question...I got this Tuscon for $500 the timing belt was already off and I didn't get to see if it broke or what happened, I do know that the water pump is locked. They said it happened in there driveway I used a scope to see inside the 3 piston Chambers on the front and I do not see any marks at all on the Pistons, if the belt broke it would do visible damage right? Either way for $500 I got an 05 Tuscon in very nice condition and it also came with the timing belt kit...
