This is a great video to watch for purposes of refitting some components that as can be seen, are compatible over the model years. I had recently acquired a 2003 KX250-M1 that has never seen the filth of this earth as it is destined to do. The bike was set-up, jetted for the expansion chamber selected, but never broken in, and the owner went out for "one last ride" on their old bike,...and had a mishap that resulted in that KX being frozen in a time warp for SEVENTEEN YEARS, never even ridden. I had to give it a home, but its display days are over, I thought about keeping it like that, but that thought lasted about a week. In that 17 years the bike sat, a LOT has changed, so it is quite helpful to see the compatibility aspect with minor adjustments to make the front suspension work out here. The advice to always invest in a top end examination and replace the basics to have a solid starting point with a newly obtained bike is important to pay attention to as mentioned in the video. Even though this bike was never operated more than a few minutes, it is getting torn down and having new seals, bearings, rings, piston, all the usual parts that would be in the first recommended changes of those parts at the hours of operation mark for them, but only because of any potential compromise from remaining dormant for so long. Plus, I need to know its good to go,....so I`m very appreciative you said that, and made this video. No pun, but that "sealed" the deal for me. If that catastrophic top end fail could happen, doing what I can to be proactive with such a scarce relic is a healthy workout for familiarization of the internals,... and its my first KX250. So just because it is a brand new, zero-hour use bike is not a good enough reason to skip over this procedure,... ( sometimes we need to hear a reminder, so your experience is not for nothing, I`m listening to that advice, because you`re right) I will be looking at straight up swapping out forks and rear suspension with something from this decade,.... What can I say?, some people REALLY WANT a Kawasaki 2 stroke. I wish Kawasaki did too,.... Thanks for the video.

Same shit happened to mine, when i bought it on craigslist the top end exploded and ruined the bottom end. Tore the entire back down and restored it back to OEM. Couldn't be happier with it now but it was a hell of a project 🤣 nice job on yours!!

when you mounted the forks for the first time in the stock clamps how big of a gap was there because I'm running 2006 forks on mine and I don't wanna cut my clamps unless I know yours were the same gap as mine

I bought forks off a 2013 rmz 450. The forks slide right in but my brake rotor doesn’t line up with the caliper. The pads and rotor bind. The caliper kings up and mounts perfectly and so does the axle bolt. My question is if you had to change anything else to get then to work. Did you run different spacers or a different front wheel? Thanks Travis

My air forks that I put on mine were off of a 2015 KX450f. All of my stuff lined up, are you using rmz forks on a kawi, if so that's probably your problem.
@travisstucki4853 жыл бұрын
@@BraxtonTheMotorcycleManiac ya, I had to switch the wheel spacers to one Kawasaki and one rmz spacer to get them to line up. Took it out to test ride and start working on some setting and tore my acl in a rut. So it’s going to sit for a while.

I am wanting to rebuild my 03 kx 250 and the rear shock feels really bad. Have you looked into swapping it out with anything a little more current?
@BraxtonTheMotorcycleManiac4 жыл бұрын
I've thought about it but mine feels pretty good. I was having the hardest time trying to tune the OEM forks on the front which is why I switched to the SFF air forks that I have now.

the tx plastics dont line up properly if you look properly at the side plastics that attaches to sub frame it dont line up still looks good but you should look into polisport restyle plastics for kx 125/250 line up so much better than the tx plastics and the polisport restyle plastics are a knewer look 2019/2020/2021 were tx are 2016/2017 I've got both styles and polisport put the tx to shame buddy
@BraxtonTheMotorcycleManiac3 жыл бұрын
When I did this plastics kit TX was a lot cheaper to do and only one available at the time lol. I sold the KX not too long ago.
