I saved a blue '03 4 × 2 from some SoundCloud rapper looking kid a couple years ago. Glad I decided to make the move, this thing is a complete joy. Since it is old, I have plans to replace all the worn down suspension bushings, and perhaps the inner/outer tie rods. I've driven this thing in the snow, on the coast, in the mountains, and such. Everything but the city lol

Damn 6.9sec, this thing was faster than the newer explorers with the 3v 4.6 and 6spd auto

These were a blast to drive, such a great engine, too bad that they were a money pit. It was crazy that the Aviator with the 4v 4.6 engine put out 2 more hp than the bigger 5.4 4v that was in the Navigator.
@madmod10 ай бұрын
Peak Hp came in at 5750 for the Aviator, and 5250 for the Navigator. That means from idle to 5200, the Navigator is making more power and torque. The only rev to 6k as well.
@BrownBomber9218110 ай бұрын
@@madmod yea, the Nav definition made more torque, 355 lbs/ft

These were amazing SUVs. Looked similar to the Explorer but underneath it was much much more upgraded just like the new Aviator.

I love mine. It's not fast like a sports car but when you floor it it makes you smile because a daily truck shouldn't move like that. The cornering agility feels comically good too.

The irony that ford had a dohc 4v 5.4, but chose to shove the 3v into the biggest seller with that engine. How much money could that saved, especially when they angered people with the 3v?

Always liked these, to bad it only lasted 3 years.

These are MAGIC to drive. It's a shame the engine and transmission werent longer lasting.

193.3 inches length, 113.7 inches wheelbase...that's on the large size of the "midsized" luxury SUV segment. For comparison, the Lexus GX470 of the time had a total length of 188.1 inches and a wheelbase of 109.8 inches.
