Almost all L models were sold for livery service. No sunroof on the L for the same reason there are no sunroofs in taxis. Sunroofs were rare in regular Town Cars, it likely made no sense to do the tooling or production line accommodation for sunroofs on such a low volume car such as the L.

@@RustyZipperas far as I know that option of the extra 4” wheel base was very difficult to get in civilian form but not impossible it depended on your select dealership agency proprietor and the larger agencies were more privy to this kind of custom availability specifications Liason

@@georgewilson1184 It wasn't difficult to order - but almost no Lincoln dealers ordered them for regular retail stock because of slow turnover and low profit. The truth of the last generation Town Car is that it was a poor seller with declining sales each of the last nine years of production - from 56,566 in 2003 to 9,460 in 2011, and 1,001 "2012" models sold only in the middle east (those 1,001 2012's were all made in 2011 before production closed in August 2011).

It’s not necessarily the mileage, it’s literally 22.5 years old, built March ‘02. Better to fix things now with quality parts and a reputable mechanic rather than later when you’re stranded on the side of the road with your family in the middle of nowhere 🤷♂️
@Thomas63r22 ай бұрын
Anthony caters to collectors of turn key cars that need absolutely nothing. Age is the enemy just as much as miles. Anthony has often said that he knows that most dealers wouldn't seek perfection like he does - but Anthony is not your typical dealer. Truthfully this generation of Town Car tears the boots on ball joints, and Anthony just replaces the whole control arm assembly so that all the bushings are new and fresh. Most 21 year old cars have seepage on their shocks, Anthony just gives them new shocks.

Fun fact: the factory never installed sunroofs on the L models. All long wheelbase Town Cars with sunroofs were after the fact add ins. When I was shopping for my Town Car that bugged me because I really like the rear seat space of the L - but I always get a factory sunroof. I really enjoy my 2006 Presidential Edition (Signature Limited) with both a factory sunroof and a full length E&G black canvas carriage roof, factory chrome 18 spoke wheels, finished in Light French Silk, now closing in on 150k miles - its my preferred choice for long road trips!

@papakountry95572 ай бұрын
@RustyZipper only 2?! Pfft, I want 3!! This one, then the daily with higher miles and a little more wear and tear. But that 3rd one, I want just as MINT as this one so when this one quits in about 20 to 30 years or fee hundred thousand miles, I'll have another one to fall back on!! Ppl don't realize that those "values" are strictly blanket values!! They don't take into consideration the condition, work done to upkeep it, and the value that this car would mean to someone that truly loves and appreciates these VERY RARE Cartier L's with extremely low mileage!! I'd venture to say that 40-60% of these TC long wheel base models are sitting at 200k or more in mileage because they were mainly used as transportation for higher ups, events, and other misc stuff!! If I hadn't just bought a new truck, I'd gladly spend 25k for this car!
@Thomas63r22 ай бұрын
Jo, no one in the collector car world uses KBB for special or low mileage collector cars. In no way is Anthony over charging: he pays top dollar for his inventory and is a well known buyer to other dealers - please note that he bought this car from a Ford dealer and Anthony likely paid more for this car than retail buyers in that Ford dealer's area. Anthony has accumulated a hoard of impossible to find parts like the rear seat lighted vanity mirrors that the originals in this car were broken. Anthony goes overboard and services the whole car to be a truly turn key car that needs nothing. Anthony never over sells the condition of his inventory - the same cannot be said of the majority of specialty or classic car dealers.

What happened to this car that it needed rear airbags?
@badreligionnc2 ай бұрын
After 21 years they definitely need replacement. The suspension can't last forever.
@randymcmanus86912 ай бұрын
Airbags life span is usually about 10 years ,I do have a 97' Lincoln Mark VIII that just needed rear bags but after almost 28 years I'd say I got my money's worth.
@Thomas63r22 ай бұрын
Just like tires crack with age, so do suspension air bags. Typically what happens is they develop very small leaks and then the compressor is constantly on and pumping up the airbags.
@randymcmanus86912 ай бұрын
@Thomas63r2 it's a cheap fix though just did the rear on my 97 Lincoln Mark VIII after 28 years on bags they finally leaked cost me $135 to replace bags and solenoids well worth it to keep air ride and not do coilovers like everyone else does

It’s not just “a 21 yr old car”; it’s an absolutely mint, top trim level, super low mileage luxury car out of production since 2011. The 4.6 V8 is one of Ford’s most reliable & long lived power plants & otherwise, Lincoln Town Cars of that vintage are famously reliable. Anything of comparable comfort & spaciousness on the market today will cost significantly more not only in initial price, but in repairs & maintenance as well.
