It's a shame cars like this aren't made anymore, people can talk shit about French cars all they want but undeniably they made unique hate it or love it cars and dared to do things differently when most other manufacturers played it safe. The NPR (US public radio) car guys years ago were talking to a French car owner said every car company takes apart the other's cars and copies. But the French don't copy anyone and no one copies the French. So they recommended finding a mechanic named Pierre. There haven't been any French cars imported into the US for decades even though Stellantis (formerly Chrysler) in the US owns Peugeot/Citroen. I don't know why they haven't given a couple of those a facelift to be Dodges or Chryslers and then make them here (or Canada or Mexico).

Lived in France for 16 years 2004-2020 and owned several Citroens - all reliable and comfortable. The C6 was purchased by French industry chiefs as well as used by Government ministers.- Their opposite number in UK would automatically never want to be seen in a Citroen and so they buy a BMW or Merc instead - without realising that the Citroen suspension system used on the C6 has also been adopted by Rolls Royce & Bentley! Now back in UK my main family motor is a Citroen Spacetourer 7 seater which I take back to France on holiday twice a year - 56 MPG. I love it! This C6 from Matt would be a great car for someone as long as they can steer clear of the charges for driving in restricted city areas.

Stunning car. As someone who drove a C4 Grand Picasso (also bought from West London Citroen) till 150000 miles, French cars are misunderstood - treat them like a mistress - they need to be spoilt, need looking after really well, and if you own one have a contingency fund to fix everything that will go wrong - but if you do this, they will last years and you will love their flair! I so want this, but it would not fit my current family lifestyle (I have a 5008 now)! A great to drive down to your French cottage in the summer!

I got to drive one of these as a brand-new car, at a Citroen press launch event! Weirdly I remember feeling disappointed they hadn't included their new-fangled, fixed-centre style steering wheel they had on the C4. I thought it would have added a dimension of quirkiness to a relatively sensible interior, to complement the overtly avant-garde exterior styling. Seems a bit nit-picky of me now. But I also remember the supremely smooth ride and the sheer size of the thing! The C6 will become a classic for sure, truly a one-of-a-kind car. Thanks for showing us around!
@philward53

Fixed centre steering wheel thing is not newfangled if I understand what you mean. Our ID19 had it in about 1962 and it's possible it was in the original DS, along with one wheel nut, indicator switch in the middle of the console (to allow the front passenger to operate them ? And of course they were not self-cancelling), ability to adjust the timing from inside the car (useful for driving at different altitudes) etc. etc.

I remember being picked up in these when I visited our factory in France. Never been in a Citroen, but it was pleasantly charming. Quirky. Definitely not the typical German, British, or Japanese idea of a luxury car I was used to. The weirdest thing was, at the time I thought it would be a hatchback...but when it was time to load my luggage...it wasn't. The rear window was the craziest thing I have ever seen.

I owned one of these magnificently mad machines, and by God I miss it. Late 1957, it came with HUD, lane departure warning, digital panel, pop-up rear spoiler and a front passenger seat that could be adjusted by le president in la banquette arrière when he fancied more foot room. If I had somewhere to keep it, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. This is undoubtedly a future classic.

9'36".. Those bush mounts are for the front suspension and they're almost certainly from the equivalent Peugeot 407 and therefore wrong. If they need replacing, you should watch UpnDown's playlist on fixing and running his. You need a unique (and French only) computer to set up the ride height properly otherwise it will throw up errors. Aside from that (and the crank snapping Ford V6, and no room at all under the bonnet) great car. I'd kill for one!

Beautiful car and when it's in the office car park it never be mistaken for one of the hundreds of identical "plastic fantastics" surrounding it and it was the most "tamed" of the true Citroen cars as against their very own versions of the plastic fantastics which all car manufactures now churn out...a gorgeous car for some lucky owner.

The problem is the PSA V6. Both Renault, Peugeot and Citroen have ceased all parts manufacture for this engine. So there are no "main dealer spares". They have plastic cam covers with an integrated seal. You cannot buy this seal separately and have to buy the entire cam cover to stop the non-stop oil leaks. Except you cannot buy them anymore. We had 2 of these and had to scrap both cars as i just could not get the parts.

The moment I saw the thumbnail, that Top Gear piece that you mentioned popped into my head as well. The concave rear screen and the plush ride, I can never forget how the 5 Series (E60) handled that test. Handsdown, a future classic in the making and at 750 quid for a limousine that former French presidents (Chirac & Sarkozy) once rode in, the C6 has some pedigree compared to other Euro boxes from the time.

I had a 2.2 C6 manual for five years from 2007 as my company car - even then, that configuration was rare on what was already a rare vehicle. If memory serves, Citroën only sold around 950 rhd C6s in the UK. I adored that car. All my company colleagues were Beemer bores & Audi acolytes & I got a fair dollop of grief from them over my unusual choice. When I had to give it back after its contract was complete we'd done 160,000 virtually flawless miles together & I damn near wept when we parted company.😢

What an absolute beautiful French car ❤ I've owned 3 French cars in the past myself. I once bought a Peugeot 407 sw , petrol car that was extremely thirsty and I bought a diesel 407 that was way more economical. I also owned a 2003 xsara Picasso and even though it looked like an Easter egg , it wasn't a bad car. As a guy on KZbin said , calling it a Picasso was like calling your dad sexy 😅 Anyway, keep those videos coming and wishing you and yours a very happy Christmas from Ireland

in 2006 Citroen Bath Road Slough was not a dealership, it was head office only. So it was serviced at Head office of Citroen UK by the company fleet team and the training service team. Probably belonged to a manager in head office. I reckon those plates are a later edition, london west bought it or repaired it at 2 years old i reckon. Would of had Slough CITROEN UK plates on it at first.
