Bought the car brand new in 03.5. Worst car I've ever owned honestly. But I could of bought a lemon. Tranny blew at 52k. Had issues the entire time if ownership

@@TheSoapiestWanger tranny is a weak point, if you hammered it good for those 52k miles that is expected with these by now. Honestly the community is tight nit, and by now any and all issues with these (like a tranny blowing at 52k) has not only been solved but is still brought up pretty quick if you ask the right questions. There are Facebook groups for these cars that are actually non-toxic and nothing but helpful. That alone makes these cars amazing

I ended up buying a clapped protege for my first car when I was 16, insane car. Im 20 now and don't regret it at all, even after the money I dumped into it for it to breakdown lmfao. Turbo sounded insane, handles like a go-kart and thing was LIGHT. That little bit of horsepower on it means nothing with the amount of weight the car has lol.

I drive a 21 mazda3 turbo sedan today and I’d flip it in a second for one of these. I had a base spec 00 protege manual back in the day and that car made me fall in love with Mazda. Never looked back. Awesome build. Super clean sound and killer stance.

Sweet ride!!!......What brand of radiator is it you are using and how do I get one for my own? I've got an "automatic" so the transmission cooler is included in the bottom radiator tank....I need the extra cooling capacity as its the 1.6 VVT which is now also Turbocharged .....If anyone knows where I can order one please let me know. Thanks

What you see there exsposed on the front is a heat exchanger (hot air cooler). The Turbo is spun using hot exhaust gasses, plus it's 9 pounds of boost (stock has 6#'s) the compressed air will get very hot. If you own an air compressor you will notice it gets very hot. The more the boost, the hotter the air, the bigger the cooler needs to be. Cooler air makes more power, lots more!
