It’s a rf detector that lifts or opens a gate or arm for entry into a special lane. If the car traveled much it would be a commuter tag rf chip. The transmitter is behind the black dot and the gold lines are the antenna. They place it on the license place or the headlamp because the windshield has a special coating that prevents the reader from detecting it

Sticker on the headlight is an RFID transponder that can be used for any number of things from gate access, car wash access, parking garages, etc. There is a chip behind that black dot, and the squiggly lines on the outside act as antennae. -Eric

For such a big car, you would think the rear leg room would be a lot more room. I owned a Crown Vic. Same era I am 6’1” tall and I had to have the front seat all the way back and I could have used a little more leg room to drive comfortably. Other than that, I love these babies for the Ultimate in Quiet, and beautiful ride. Sounds like you got the car for $2999.

If you get a Grand Marquis get one from 2003 forward. That is when the new front suspension started . I had one of these , the only down side if that air suspension if it goes. I had my 2003 for years great vehicles. I'm impressed how clean under the hood this one is , I also noticed how clean the brake lines are coming off the master cylinder. Mine in Pennsylvania with snow and salt did not look that clean. Part for these cars are actually not expensive, except that module that controls the heat/air, but if you know what you are doing, it can be rebuilt for less than $10.00 with rubber O rings. Nice car for whoever the new owner will be.

Had a 2000 with the digital dash, great car. Easy to work on except the dreaded 4.6 heater core location ... had two had to replace , f150 and a GM. Otherwise nice rides, decent mpg.

I had an 04 Ultimate in gold ash which was a mysterious color. The digital dash, wood steering wheel and heated seats were my favorite features. I liked the new facia over the 98 but found the interior to have been cheapened up. The ride was too firm when coming from a 90! But as often is the case, it kept getting called a Lincoln by those casual observers.

The guesses on the left headlight sticker are essentially correct. It's an RFID tag that is read by a gate sensor to open an automatic gate...usually in gated communities

These can be had with a floor shift if you had the HPP option, which would also give it dual exhaust, bigger sway bars...So nearly fully loaded...

This may sound silly or a bit OCD like but this car they seemed to return to wipers that snap into a peg, while early 90s, ford got the Taurus, crown Vic , Aerostar , Lincoln town car etc , into more flush hook type wipers that European and Japanese makers have used for years, before that , they were this older dated design. this car I find they stick up a bit on the window and look odd. Is it the extra cost of how they hid away ? I find they had them designed perfectly on the panther cars and went a bit backwards

The only drawback is the year,2003.problematic year for the wiring,they changed the wiring harness in 03,on the Crown Victoria's,and the Grand Marquis's.usually around 70k plus mileage cars have problems.Ford fixed it in 04.
