Have a 2005 Grand Marquis LS Premium with almost every option including power front bucket seats with center console and power moonroof. I baby the heck out of her. I never drive it in bad weather. Unless it's an emergency. Found this car for my Dad. He liked it, bought it. Drove it until he couldn't anymore. I took care of it until he passed away. My Mom inherited it. She never drove. I was next because I took care of the car, the last two years of his life. Needs a paint job. It's an heirloom. Been in the family 12 years we all love it. My Dads last car.😊

I would like to do a Flowmaster FX cat back, delete the mufflers, keep the resonators and put 4 inch exhaust tip straight out the back. Not too loud not too quiet, either. She only has 126,100 miles on it. Just broke in. I need to join a Panther Platform Owner's Club. There's 10 other Panther Platform Cars in the town I live in. I used to work for a previously enjoyed used car dealer that bought a 03 f250 4x4 from the auction and wanted me to check it out for him. after looking under the hood it was well maintained and serviced with records! It started right up and sounded like a new truck the bed of the truck looked like it had loose boulders rolling around in it but he was hard up for anything at the time. I asked him if he ever looks at the odometers on any of these before buying because this one showing 449.000 miles on it. After he filled his diaper he had me take it up on the hill. It ran and drove great! If you look closely you can tell if anything has been changed and nothing.. All original drivetrain! 5.4 auto too. I realize we are talking about cars but I thought it would be something else to throw in the mix. I converted the truck into a plow rig and ran it thru knee deep snow one winter and he eventually sold the truck for a lot more than he paid for it. The buyers did not even question the mileage at all.

@@GirlDad189 that's a really nice Grand Marquis in lovely shape. They're getting harder to find in that condition, and especially for a reasonable price. Ford should never have stopped making the panther platform. The plant in St Thomas Ontario where they were made is completely gone now, and I believe the land has been sold. What a shame. Just change the oil every 3,500 miles and the transmission and diff oil every 50,000 miles, and it will last for easily over 500,000.

These cars are built like a tank. But they won’t necessarily run forever like Scotty says. I am on my third crown Victoria, these cars have a known flaw in the top manifold that was made with a thin aluminum and plastic portion that tends to easily blow. Should have stayed as all aluminum. Anyways there was a suit against Ford and for a number of years they were being replaced. Of course that ended about a year before mine blew, a number of years back. Anyways my current 2003 started leaking coolant from the manifold seal where it meets the engine block, after sitting for about two years ( in doors garage). But this car was totally babied. And 88,000 miles is quite low for a 2003 in the year 2022. And like I said very babied and easily driven. Repair will be about $1500 when you include the engine flush and new coolant for about $180. Anyways. I still like them a lot. Good luck with yours.

Yea its a common issue in these 4.6s. I just had mine replaced after owning it for 10 years and putting 97k on it. Has 140k on it now. Bought it when it had about 43k on it. Very dependable cars. Might not run forever but damn close lol.
@billchildress97562 жыл бұрын
I've had to replace those manifolds before because they would give out just below the t-stat housing. If you can find a wrecked police cruiser with that engine just buy the manifold and install it. Ford had to eat a lot of crow over that design issue on a lot of cruisers. My 00 merc still has the factory intake on it and no leaks so far.

Had a 96 GM (in 2003). One by one all the power window regulators or the regulators and the actuator cables went bad. Replaced with recycled parts (used to be called junkyard parts). Also, the coolant manifold--which was made of plastic--developed a leak and lost all coolant while driving. Was able to "limp" home, turning it off and allowing the engine to cool every few miles--and the engine was not ruined! The replacement coolant manifold was aluminum. No more worries about a plastic part on top of a hot engine developing issues. The driver seat became very uncomfortable: lost its cushioning due to age.
@GirlDad1892 жыл бұрын
I’m noticing a lot of people are posting comments about the plastic manifold and issues that they had with that. I never knew this, so I’m gonna have to check with my mechanic.
