The worst part was the guy he hired to replace Solich, Bill Callahan, who was never a good fit for Nebraska at all. I compared that to when Michigan hired Rich Rodriguez to replace Lloyd Carr, it just didn't make sense and didn't fit;

Whenever I watch games from my teams' pasts, I inevitably wonder "Where so-and-so is today?" or, "What happened to him?". In this case, I wondered whatever happened to Patrick Kabongo (monstrous, at 6'6", 315 lbs., then!). He seemed like just the kind of player NFL teams would covet. You wont give up will you. This 16-12 slump is directly attributable to Solich. Peterson was spot on in firing him. 21 seasons now. A losing bowl record and only 1 conf championship.

@@robjohnson8861 Solich was the 6th winningest coach in the country when he was fired and he had two very good 1st year coordinators in place. I'm not a huge Frank fan, but in retrospect, the day he was fired was the day Nebraska football died.
