I came across this video earlier in 2022 while researching the first generation Sequoia. Great video that encouraged me to eventually pick up my 07 SR5. Currently has 246,700 and other than leaky valve cover gaskets it's been amazingly reliable. Everything works as it should. It drives smooth, shifts smooth, stop smooth. Phenomenal vehicle

1:22 it actually made 235HP. We have a Lexus GX470 with the same engine. Later years (2005-2007) got ~275HP and the five speed auto that the GX got from the first model year. Same for the other models that used this engine. (Land Cruiser, 4runner, Tundra). Also, every Sequoia shared something mechanically with the Tundra, even the upcoming one.

I'd love to have a roll down rear on my xj. I'd love to graph on one day. Hinged would be much easier. It's already rare af being a 2 door 4wd 5 speed 4.0 but a power rear window would be amazing to top it off.

I just bought a 02 4wd Sequoia for cheap, it has 180k original miles, it is salvage but i only want it as a camping rig so that doesn't matter much, timing bet and small issues getting done this week and my first road trip with off roading the next. So far i am loving it, excepet for the mpg..

3:16. You've probably found out already, but that's actually Toyota VIP - Vehicle Intrusion Protection. A suite of keyless entry and security systems offered by Toyota starting from the mid-90s to the early 2010s. That particular thing is the Toyota VIP Glass Breakage Sensor (GBS). It's an add-on glass break sensor upgrade for Toyota vehicles already equipped with factory alarm systems.

The Sequoia has more storage space than a Chevrolet Tahoe. I would have loved to get one when I was shopping for my Suburban, but the two-wheel drive Ones cost as much as the four-wheel drive Suburbans, and the four-wheel-drive ones were well out of my price range
@thirdpedalnirvana
@thirdpedalnirvana 2 жыл бұрын
I do understand that the Sequoia is a much better off-roading platform than a Suburban, but my interest in 4-wheel drive is completely unrelated to offroading. It's only to get up to the ski slopes. I even eschewed nobby mud+snow tires that everyone runs on their SUV for more traditional passenger car snow tires, because I never plan to drive off the pavement
@thirdpedalnirvana
@thirdpedalnirvana 2 жыл бұрын
Oh and to clarify for people in other states that regularly get snow: yes, a two-wheel drive Sequoia with snow tires would make it up to Tahoe without needing four-wheel drive. But the authorities in California expect you to know nothing about how to drive in the snow, and will not allow you to attempt to drive up the mountain without chains on, unless you have snow tires AND four-wheel drive. I may never actually put my Suburban in 4-wheel drive, but it's nice to know that I won't get stuck in the parking lot if it dumps while I'm skiing
@thirdpedalnirvana
@thirdpedalnirvana 2 жыл бұрын
Haaaa! I predicted it before Zach said it! As a suburban owner (GMT 400) I can attest that it DOES have more space behind the third row than that. But the Sequoia is closer in size to a suburban than it is a Tahoe, which is odd because from the outside, it doesn't look nearly as big as a suburban.

Worth it though. $4000 in my 2004 2WD sequoia limited and I don't have to worry about transmission issues. It averages 18mpg too and every single thing on the vehicle works at 227k miles.
@damilolaakanni
@damilolaakanni Жыл бұрын
You had to remove the third row seats from the Tahoe if you want any storage space in the trunk. That was the situation until recently. It seems Chevy really wanted people to get the Suburban over the Tahoe.
