Great video, thermostat was cracked and it's 6 years old, a friend who is a Volvo mechanic suggested replacing the engine thermostat sensor at the same time as it's right there and easy access as they get rusty and wear out and throw codes.

I own a V50 1.8 from 2005, but the thermostat on this S40 of yours is sooo much easier to replace. I haven't done mine yet, but I have to remove the airbox and stuff like that. Tough job, first time. Good vid.

Thank you mate, very pedagogic video. Do you know if the heat sensor for the coolant system is the one right there next to the thermostat? (I think it is) Also: Is it possible to put it together without using a torque wrench. But just with a normal wrench? Or is it very risky?
@SuperCleanslate2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's it. It looks like an O2 sensor

Great video, thanks for this. Is the coolant system self bleeding? Or do I need to use the bleed screw on the lower rad hose to the right of the engine?
@olfeno75064 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found thé vidéo useful. It isn't self-bleeding. Yes you'll need to loosen that bleed screw on the lower rad hose to let thé trapped air out. Tighten when you have a steady stream of coolant flowing out.
