Hi, I want to thank you very much for this video, because I had to change the complete clutch of my Volvo V40 with the same engine. I did it all by myself and thanks to this video I was able to do it without a hitch, and at least it saved me from making mistakes even though I still work in mechanics on construction equipment. All that to say thank you very much! From france 🇫🇷

I had a 2002 volvo v40 1.9 diesel. Good solid well engineered car. Testified as that is 20 years old looks solid. Renault engine but to volvo specs? As the volvo 1.9 seems to be better than the Renault version. Would you not be better to get a gazebo for weather like that? or is it a drysuit you're wearing 😆 top job once again.
@WMCS2 жыл бұрын
Since Volvo switched over to Peugeot engine it’s literally a never ending failure. This one here is the the actual Volvo engine you can see the quality down to the nuts and bolts .. not a single bit of rust .. Gazebo are too risky. The metal leg might scratch the paintwork with winds and takes too long .. The time it’ll take me to put it up and take it down and pack and unpack I’ll probably be halfway through the job … You’re absolutely correct. All my clothing are completely water repellant. Actually... the S40 and V40 was'nt built in Sweden but in Netherlands. The only issue with these chassies (both phase 1 and 2) is that they are'nt as rust resistant and that's what gives it away. Even the phase 2's like the one in the video is starting to get really crusty underneath since many does'nt take care of them. But with that low milage on this one.. the owner will have many more happy miles as long as they take care of it and keeps the underside fresh and clean. My S40 I had went 360000Km before the chassi gave up. And I now have a V70 -03 with 482000Km on the clock and is free from rust and runs like half of it's milage. So it's fair to say that S/V40 of that time was indeed Volvos budget versions. I still remember the commercials that ran on TV. I think the aim was middleclass-low income families or something. Sorry for the long comment but became a bit nostalgic. 🤣😂
@MrCaprinut2 жыл бұрын
@@mcautodatas My 04' V40 (built late 03) has done 246.000km now. Still plenty of km left in it. The front suspension is getting a bit brown now, but it is just surface rust. The rest of the undercarrige is spotless. It has lived on salted roads here in Norway all its life. I got it because it was cheap. Some stuff I don't like as it is a half Mitsubishi and not fully a Volvo. I would rather have a V70 if I could find a good one that is cheap (nothing is cheap here)

Clutch and flywheel replacement worth times more that car itself, I dont believe in that low mileage because cluth pads worn is stupid. I had same 1.6 petrol done over 300k km on original clutch.
@WMCS2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure .. but you can’t compare driving country lanes and narrow up and downhill curves .. you need to be on the pedal a lot in comparison
@mcautodatas2 жыл бұрын
If they changed the whole cluster and by chance found exactly the same OE number, Firmware and general version then it would show the donor cars milage (original milage might still be stored in CEM or ECU).. or if re-programmed (this is required on the P2 chassis of the same era). But who would put that effort into a car like this or even the money. My bet is that it is an eldery person who owns it/drives it rarely and slips on the clutch more then Michael Jackson was slipping his shoes on the ground while moonwalking. Clutch seems to support that theory, no material on disc left and burn marks on the flywheel.

@MrCaprinut2 жыл бұрын
@@NayNay1991x I once did a Focus clutch. I found it pain in the arse. But this V40 did seem easy. Now I know to do it on my own V40 if the clutch decide to go... I find rwd so much easier to do. Capri one takes under 2 hours with no power tools. Gearstick off, speedo and clutch cable off, driveshaft off, starter off and finally pulling the gearbox rearwards. But the 3 litre one is a bit struggle as the gearbox is nearly 50kg, and the gearbox needs to clock it 1/4 of turn the make it possible to take out.
