Thank you thank you a million times thank you! I have EVERY SINGLE ONE of the symptoms described in this video, as well as both codes. Runs great cold, but when up to temperature, all the problems start. My 2001 VW Jetta is getting fixed this weekend-will report back to let everyone know this works for me!

03 Jetta 2.0 My car starts and if I let go the accelerator it shuts off, Tuesday and before it wouldn't start in chilled weather or mornings it will have to sit 20min while choking and jerking, don't know if I over did it by trying to start that now it doesn't want to stay on but I was aiming towards the temperature sensor & 02 sensor.. It also pops from the muffler and there's a gas sense. Recently changed the MAF and it has new battery..Alternator runs not sure if fuel pump does, I gotta change S-plugs so idk if that could be the problem will clean the throttle boddy and add some SeaFoam as well. @Ak a. Did it have the same codes? If so, it could have a wiring problem to the ECM. You might also check the terminals in the mating connector.

Randy Templeton It had the same codes. I had to borrow a code reader from a friend to reset it while I drive. The engine sounds completely fine and I am able to drive it by resetting the computer every few hundred miles. How much would it be to replace those wiring to the ECM?

iv got a 2000 model doin the same thing as this one, same engine but it never threw those codes, actually threw 5 different codes. think replacing this would solve my problem?

Hoping for a little advice. Went to change this same sensor in my 02' Golf and the bolt that holds the sensor to the engine was rusted and stripped out! (damned rock salty New England winters!) any suggestions on how to safely get it out? Also, any idea if I might find a new bolt at my local VW shop?

I have same problems of coming off the highway after a 30 minute commute get to a stop light and it dies, restarts then about a mile later dies again and wont restart for 30 minutes. The thing is I'm not getting a check engine and its not throwing codes? Any thoughts Randy ? Ive changed the injectors , plugs , and the fuel pump is working fine.

The crankshaft position sensor could be getting hot and not putting out a signal. I would think that it would throw a code, but I have seen no codes on a GM car with same symptoms as yours and the sensor was the problem. I think the sensor is not too expensive, you might want to replace it and try it.

I will be throwing the crankshaft sensor at it as soon as it get here for sure. I hope its not the crankshaft sensor as the videos I've seen look like you have to go DEEP into the engine

@@chipsandsalsa2520 the crank and cam sensors are the exact same part number in this video. Have your partsman check yours to be sure. The crank sensor is a little tricky to get to but not too bad. I would replace crank sensor first, if that doesn’t fix it then you can put the old crank sensor back in and put the new sensor in the cam hole and try that.

2003 jetta 2.0l (ahv/avh idk which) crank no start, dead battery for awhile, i put a battery in and its cranks fuel pump runs, and has oem fp relay, new plugs, has spark and 200+psi compression on 3 cylinders, didn't test cylinder 2 because its a pita, 4qts for fresh oil and topped off the coolant. gas was old so i drained some and put in a couple gallons or so of fresh gas in still wont start, check code and got p0321. will this cause crank, no start, if good because i order a camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft one.

Is it possible for the crank sensor to go bad without throwing the codes? My 2003 vw golf 2.0 has similar symptoms. It occasionally stalls at stop lights and it idles rough.

Rodion Raskolnikov Not sure, but I would think it could be possible. I know that GM sensors can fail and not throw a code. Not sure about VW.

dude yesss its veryy possible !!! i think it might depend on your code reader too, cause my buddy works at orilleys and they could only see like 8 of my codes and i went home with my vw ebay reader and got an extra two codes

for 6 months my cars been down cause oriellleys reader said it was CAM sensor so we fixed that with no luck:/ i let it sit awhile before i got frusturated and finally bought my own reader and thats when i found out i also had a bad CRANK sensor along with the CAM sensor

Thanks bro but do you anything about the 1.8t engine I use to be at 10 psi of boost and now I am at 5 and there a dtc for boost pressure valve or something like that do you know anything about that ?

No sorry. Don't know much about that. There is some kind of a boost valve on top of the engine kind of on the drivers side of center. . Don't know how to diagnose it.

think I've got this problem on my 2002 golf 1.8t aum keeps doing exactly this and esp comes up. it's then hard to start unless you leave it to fully cool down I managed to reset all codes then when the esp light came on i read the code p0322 hope it's just that ☺

It’s called the crankshaft position sensor or the engine speed sensor. It is probably $50 US dollars or less.

Mine turns off driving sometimes when gets normal operating temp but the code appearing is p0725… can be the same fix?

P0725 is engine input speed signal for the transmission. Not sure if transmission uses this same sensor for its reference. It is possible. You may need to do some research on that code. 700 codes are transmission codes.

I havent replace the ckp sensor yet but i bet that the problem was the battery was low on charge and the ecu cant bring the power to all the components because after use the car more and more the problem went away…

Very confused. My code reader is giving me a P0321, but it says it's the speed sensor and not the CP sensor. WTF VW? I replaced the CP sensor and that did not fix the issue. Guessing I actually need to replace the SPEED sensor not the CP on mine. I don't get it.

My car is doing the same thing when I'm driving it; it jerks and when I'm trying to go between 45-66 miles per hour, the revs go crazy up to 50-60....so all i have to do is jack up the car and look under on the passenger side, pull it out and replace it...that easy???

Ewwik I don’t think so. The EPC light is for the electronic throttle body. Or the brake light switch could be bad. ECM wants to see when the brakes are on. Brake light switch is a common problem and there could be a recall on it.

I am not familiar with that car, but the code is for your crankshaft position sensor. I do not know where it is located on your engine, or how to diagnose it. Sorry.

I seem to have a rare problem as I can't seem to find anyone with my situation. I own a 2002 vw jetta 1.8t manual drive and my car seems to die randomly and my car wont get any power for at least a couole minutes. But i tried ways to get it to not do this and maybe stretch my cars life out a bit, but when my AC is running in the lowest temperature my car would not die at all! And im talking weeks. But the second I drive without my ac on, it would die within 20min and i would have to wait again 5 minutes to get it going again.

Matthew Mayers don't know if there is a shutdown mode if engine gets hot, but when A/C is on, that will turn the radiator fans on. May have something to do with that if engine temperature is not turning the fans on and engine is getting too hot
