2003 Yamaha XV250 Virago commute

I would like to see the bike get updated to a EFI system. I love the styling and I love the efficiency of smaller bore bikes. Holy crap, as I'm typing, I just realized you are in the same city I cruise around on. I have a handful of little bore bikes currently. I log 5k-6k miles a year on many of the streets around Midland. This spring, I want to get back to making videos. I have a few more bikes and a new camera and mic system.

I have a 2009 and put 32,000 miles on it and averaged 80 mpg. I only changed front sprocket to 17. Best tank was 99 mpg when I had 10w30 synthetic and before adding a windshield. My last tank was 90 mpg mostly at 45-50 mph on country roads. Top speed is 83 mph but I am only 160 lbs.

Those are some amazing numbers! I think this one would benefit from a better gear.

@@sixfive0cycle I just changed front sprocket from 17 to 18(16 was original) and I hit 90 indicated. I will test mpg when summer comes along.

I have the 2018 V Star 250 in Raven Black Metallic. The manual says it's 21HP from the V-Twin SOHC motor. Bought it last August. There are some nice parts for these bikes on Amazon and online bike shops.

Yea, they are pretty cool bikes. Amazingly fun for the size.

@@sixfive0cycle Same size and over-all style as the Sportster of the mid-80's. I can cruise around at 40MPH in low end of 4th.

how horse power have this virago 2003?

They are rated for around 18hp

That bike should easily be getting 65+ MPG.
