Bought my mom's '04 1100 classic after she couldn't ride anymore and dad turned it into a basket case. One owner, 30k miles, $2k. After hundreds of KZbin videos AND factory tech manuals, I just got the carbs clean, but not assembled and installed when it snowed 😡 I have located 99.99% of the parts, just a couple body grommets missing. A few gaskets later, I'm anxiously waiting for spring in June (Northern MN.) The sound of those Cobra pipes made up my mind, that's the sound for me. Thanks. UPDATE: Carbs are assembled! 😉

That's my bike, minus all the bells and whistles. Other than a backrest and saddlebags, mine is stock. Not many with that paint job, either. I've only seen 2 others on video and never in real life. I absolutely LOVE this thing. When you said "maintenance free", you weren't kidding. Other than changing the oil and air cleaner, I have never had to work on mine until my starter clutch went out last year. 16 years and this thing has never so much as hiccuped until then. Nice to see someone else appreciate them. Thanks.

Everybody who has one ends up changing out a stripped starter clutch. I bought an 02 1100 custom with 12,000 miles on it for 3500 bucks. It had sit for a year and wouldn't start so the guy just wanted to get rid of it. I bought it, ran a guitar string through the jets and it fired right up and idled perfectly. Two thousand miles later thunk! Starter clutch. Bought parts on E Bay for $80.00 fixed it in 3 hours, no problems since. It''s like riding a Lay-Z-Boy down the road. I sold my Gsxr1000 and KTM390 and just ride this now. I'm 65 years old and started riding at eight years old.
@warmongerel97435 күн бұрын
@@ap8riot931 I got mine for $3500 with *1900* miles on it in 2011, so it was about 8 years old with that low mileage. Judging by the lack of emblems on it and the LH mirror stem being ground almost in half, I think the guy laid it down and was just too afraid to ride again after he fixed it up. Apparently, he just put it in his garage and forgot about it until the Army decided to ship him to Georgia, so he sold it. 4 years after my original post, and I still haven't had to do anything to it besides oil changes and brakes. It really is amazing.

On my 2nd now. Based in the UK I bought a v star out of the crate. Loved it, me and wife traveling around the UK, rallies etc. traded it in for a 650 Dragstar and a Kawasaki 900 ninja. Anyway 20 years on, I'm back on the 1100 Dragstar, wife can't ride anymore due to ill health, so I thought, I need a nice cruiser so I can get her as pillion. Here i am, standard, stock bike, needs some TLC but absolutely love it

I have a 02 VStar 1100 that I bought new, gloss black, chromed out the wazoo, with gangster whitewalls like this one shown. Mine has the entire Silverado upgrades from Yamaha, not to be confused with the Standard Silverado that was sold as stock. I bought new as a XVS Classic, then added the full premium Silverado upgrade, per Yamaha’s parts catalog at the time. V and H pipes, rejetted with a Kuryakin Hypercharger that boosts power approximately 8 percent. Mine is meticulously maintained and garaged . I switched from the standard Yamaha oil to a full synthetic ( Royal Purple ) about 15 yrs ago and it runs smoother and cooler and also shifts more smoothly as well. I have a HD Fatboy that I just switched over to Amsoil with great results. Regardless of what you ride, I believe the synthetics are the best way to go.! Great Vlog!!

V star 1300 is much better bike than 1100. Comes with belt driven final drive/ easy fr maintenance. 1100 comes with shaft driven final drive difficult & expensive maintenance. Facing frequent problems with starting clutch. 1300 has got more comfortable drive.
