I have a 06 TL with Nav and Aspec package. it has 128,000 miles and has been a amazing car for years. If you are looking for one make sure the timing belt and water pump was changed at 105k, and transmission fluid changes every 30-60k. They are prone to dash cracks, crappy motor mounts, and lower ball point failure. I personally have not had any of these issues. They are great cars and I've only had to do regular preventive maintenance with the exception of a new starter at 85k miles. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

My 2004 Acura TL has 255,000 miles on it. It's old, very old. No engine or transmission trouble, but after all these years, a lot of parts have gone bad: DVD navigation player won't read the disk, passenger side window auto-function went bad, speakers hum, tape player stopped working, motor mounts needed replacing, radiator needed replacing, dashboard cracked years ago, leather seats cracked years ago, and most recently i've had several leaks. Back in 2004, cars still had tape players. Used mine all the time. The leaks have been repaired, so really my car still runs great. Oh, i also had to get a new paint job after about 8 years of ownership. It just started fading all over. I'm going to keep it a bit longer. Has all the power it had on day one. I can deal with some of the electronic parts not working. As long as the engine and transmission work as good as new, I think i got a very reliable car. I've added up all my repairs after 14 years of ownership: $8,000. That's repairs only, not maintenance. Not bad at all i think. A German car would cost probably double after over 250,000 miles. 2004 was one of the most dependable years for the TL. I believe Acura TLs have gone downhill ever since, although i heard recently they are improving again.
@TonyKimtheamusementparkfan2 жыл бұрын
Acura, I miss the days when you made excellent cars like this. This TL is probably one of the best vehicles Acura has made, and this shows just what Acura was able to do back then. This really was their peak back in the early to late 2000s. This was THE luxury sports sedan back when it came out, and I've only seen a couple of these in my lifetime. The styling still looks fresh even 18 years later. The fact that people have said that they have had no issues with these 3rd generation TLs, shows how bulletproof they are and shows the Honda-Acura reliability. You could drive this for 10+ years, and this car would still probably feel really good and almost new.

@TayWhite90 Жыл бұрын
@@Luweezy I had an 05 TL for 8 years. Got rid of it when the transmission went. (Auto trans is a weak point so make sure you keep up on fluid maintenance AND NOT POWER FLUSHES, dump and fills only and make sure it had proper maintenance in the past) Otherwise this was the best car I've ever owned and I miss it daily! Super reliable, fun to drive, sporty AND luxurious at the same time and surprisingly most parts are cheaper than for my camry. The 04 model has the added issue of dash cracking so beware of that. Otherwise, if you have a mechanic check it out and give you the thumbs up, DO IT! @SpacedQuill Жыл бұрын
mine too, except i got the automatic 5 speed but i was wondering what kind of issues you’ve had that i could maybe look out for?
@summushieremiasclarkson4700 Жыл бұрын
@@SpacedQuill Sure. Beyond the listed maintenance items (timing belt/water pump etc), I would say be careful with oil level and pressure. This engine is a little too big for a 4.7qt oil capacity, so you want to be right at the top limit. The rest I'm listing is for preventative maintenance: Drivetrain: 1. Valve clearance and adjustment 2. Idler pulley and tensioner (replace with timing belt) 3. EGR valve and throttle body cleaning 4. Rear main seal, though less of an issue with the A/T 5. Transmission in general: This is a big one for the automatics, it's known to be fragile. Service regularly. 6. Some of the coolant pipes are susceptible to dry rot. Not a big deal, If any look poor just replace them, should be the same parts across Honda/Acura, so inexpensive. 7. Aluminum radiator - eventually it will be sensible to replace for preventative purposes Steering and suspension: 1. The previous owner replaced the P/S pump and hoses on mine, but this is probably one-off. Still, it has variable ratio assisted power steering at low speeds, so watch out. 2. Lower control arm bushings and ball joints: Prone to failure. Inspect and service as necessary. The control arm bushings you should be able to tell from the clunking and vibration at highway speeds (65-85mph) 3. Wheel bearings - this should be audible if you drive at low speed with the windows down. Cheap part by NSK, $50 on ebay for OEM. Discontinued by Honda. 4. When doing to struts, be sure to replace the dampers and bump stops. It's a heavy car for its time, these wear out. 5. Rear suspension is multi-link. Again, lower control arms to watch out for here. Electrical: Not too many things on this one. 1. Relays: notably the turn signal relay. Some reports of failure, but if it does, it should be pretty obvious. Cheap part, easy to replace, annoying to reach though. That's pretty much it. If I think of anything else as I go through my list, I'll post it here and on the forums.

Sofyan the way a car drives after many years and miles comes down to the maintenance. I test drove an 04 BMW 545i with 128k on it and it drove like a dream, firm but not harsh and sharp handling along with silky smooth power. It was properly maintained and they're built solid from the factory. A well maintained car with 128k on it will drive better than a trashed and poorly maintained car with 65k on it.

You're right. I had a 2007 Altima 2.5 S that I drove for four years & 30k miles, bought it used with 36k miles for $13k. Was a very nice car, looked great, rode & handles very well, had a high quality interior & the 4-cylinder had surprisingly good power, but it had some problems, mainly the CVT which had to be replaced around 50k miles, the radio display would fade when it was hot outside, some buttons would sometimes not work & the A/C blower motor had to be replaced way too early. Never buying a Nissan ever again.

yea these cars were pretty awesome, its actually kind of interesting, the manual version of this gen TL (non-Type S) actually had a LSD and Brembo Brakes. I think it's still one of the best looking Sedans around.

Great car! The next generations simply went downhill in terms of styling and driving dynamics...

Good luck!, i had an 04 bout with 133K, such a good car, had it for a year, no issues except for battery draining. Sold it to my brother and hes only replaced the starter has around 150K now.

Hopefully Im not late but I heard the battery drains due to the bluetooth being messed up. It would constantly boot even while the car is off, draining the battery.

This car is prone to dashboard cracks, though this particular one doesn't have them, they can be very bad.
@danieljones74908 жыл бұрын
How expensive are they to replace?
@ModelGarage8 жыл бұрын
Over $3,000.
@danieljones74908 жыл бұрын
+james 699 I thought that was a ridiculous estimate. I actually bought an 08 that didn't have the same cracking as the previous one I was looking at.
